Palm Springs is getting ready to welcome its latest celebrity resident, eccentric fashion designer to the stars Jeremy Scott, further confirming the city as one of the world's hottest celebrity destinations. The Moschino designer has just purchased Elrod House, famous for its role in the James Bond film 'Diamonds Are Forever', for $7.7m.
Palm Springs has long been a favourite for Scott, who counts celebrities such as Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Rita Ora amongst his friends. He is well known for hosting parties during the city's famous Coachella Valley Music Festival, the most recent of which was attended by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Sam Smith and Jared Leto.
Designed in 1968 by John Lautner, Elrod House will require extensive restorative work and it is understood that Scott will return the exterior of the house to its former glory, whilst the interior will no doubt reflect his bold personal style. This purchase adds to the ever growing celebrity allure of Palm Springs, which has been known as 'Hollywood's playground' since the 1920s, when household names such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Cary Grant called it home. More recently, celebrities including Leonard DiCaprio, Eric Burden and Goldie Horn have purchased houses in the city.
It is not uncommon to bump into famous faces when out in Palm Springs, with many celebrities opting to rent or stay in one of the city's fantastic hotels. In recent months Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Justin Bieber and Will Smith are just some of the people who have been spotted taking time out in Palm Springs; and every year the best and brightest of Hollywood descended for the Palm Springs International Film Fest.
Nowadays though it's not just the rich and famous who can enjoy the celebrity lifestyle in Palm Springs. With many of the city's most iconic houses now available to rent, anyone can have a taste of the A-List lifestyle.
