Crystalbrook Collection

As new research reveals Australians are skipping taking leave and struggling to switch off, the hotel and resort group is offering up to 30% off stays - plus the chance for one booking a day to be refunded to $1 to reward rest.

Sydney, Australia - 23 April 2026: Australians aren't just tired - they're running on empty. New research commissioned by Crystalbrook Collection Hotels and Resorts reveals a nation stretched thin, with nearly two-thirds of Australians (57%) experiencing exhaustion at least weekly.

Coinciding with Stress Awareness Month this April, Crystalbrook Collection is offering up to 30% off stays across its portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts nationwide, encouraging Australians to take a proper break - because rest is rational, not an indulgence, with 71% of Australians saying that even having a holiday booked helps reduce their stress levels.

To recognise the simple act of taking a break, Crystalbrook Collection is introducing an industry first with the '$1 Reset Reward'. Each day throughout the sale, one eligible booking on a Crystalbrook Crowd sale rate will be refunded down to just $1, turning time away into something that gives back. In a culture where rest is often delayed or deprioritised, it's a reminder that pausing pays off.

It comes as the research reveals just how difficult it is for Australians to truly switch off. Only 37% of Australians used all of their annual leave last year, while 59% of Australians admit to checking work emails while on holiday, and 41% say they rarely get uninterrupted time to properly rest.

According to clinical psychologist Dr Anastasia Hronis, the benefits of intentional rest extend far beyond the moment itself.

“Deliberate downtime isn't a luxury - it's a psychological necessity,” says Hronis. “When we allow ourselves to properly switch off, even briefly, we reduce stress hormones, improve cognitive function, and support long-term emotional resilience.”

Her advice? Don't wait until burnout forces the break.

“Even having a future holiday booked can create a measurable lift in mood and reduce stress. It gives the brain something to look forward to - a signal that rest is coming. What is important to remember though is to remember to actually relax; 43% of Aussies feel the need to plan every moment of their time away and my advice to mix meaningful experiences with unstructured time, giving your mind the space it needs to properly relax.”

The benefits of a break begin well before check-in. This is especially relevant when considering destinations designed to truly relax - from restorative experiences like forest bathing in Byron Bay to rejuvenating treatments at Eléme Day Spa and simple moments of poolside unwinding in Cairns - highlighting how the right setting can meaningfully support rest.

Running until 6 May, with stays available between 22 April 2026 and 22 April 2027, the sale includes up to 30% off stays for Crystalbrook Crowd members, alongside added benefits such as late check-out so guests can savour the peace and quiet a little longer.
