Klondike Ranch

The Dude Ranchers

The Klondike is a working ranch located in Northwest Wyoming, one of North America's most historic and dramatic landscapes. This summer, the extreme drought in Wyoming threatened grazing, and the Klondike Ranch chose to move almost 600 head of cattle to pastures 80 miles from the ranch.

Now, its time to return the cattle to the ranch. Owner Richard Tass has scheduled the fall cattle drive for September 15. The trail is nearly 100 miles and is expected to take 18 days depending on conditions. Guests of the Klondike ranch are invited to saddle up and herd the cattle along with staff, either for their entire stay, a day or two, or even for a few hours. There will be a camp tender and a cook along for the drive, as well as vehicles to taxi guests to and from the drive, in case of need to use the phone, soak in the ranch hot tub, or simply take a break.

All camping gear, including tents, sleeping bags, mats, pillows, and rain gear, as well as all meals are provided by the ranch, and children 14 years and older are welcome to come along. Guest will learn to saddle their own horses, feed and water their horses and the livestock, cut and bale hay, and doctor livestock.

Other ranch stock has spent the summer grazing on national forest land. Those animals will be gathered and returned to the ranch starting September 25. This will be a huge event of short duration. When the stock arrive at Klondike, calves will be vaccinated and moved to fall pastures. Guests are invited to share in ranch life and learn the skills and language of the American cowboy. Guests at the ranch are part of the family. They work, eat, and play with together with the staff.

All accommodation, meals and activities are included in the rates, and rates are available on the ranch website. For more information, call 1-800-362-2982 or visit www.klondikeranch.com.
