BRINGING A TOUCH OF MOROCCO TO MALLORCA

April 2022 – The atmospheric five-star hotel, Palma Riad, has officially opened its doors, following its soft opening in October last year. Palma Riad brings an innovative Moroccan concept to Palma, inspired by the city's rich Arabic history and, with the official opening, brings an added jewel in its crown: a Master Suite featuring a giant bathtub, extra-large bed to fit four guests, and fireplace.

One of Mallorca's most hotly anticipated openings, Palma Riad is the brainchild of Mallorcan hotelier Toni Ramis, famed for Palma's Nakar Hotel. With the layout and interior design heavily influenced and inspired by Morocco, the luxurious adults-only hotel includes 11 spacious suites arranged around an ornate central courtyard.

The Concept

Located on the fashionable Sant Jaume Street, one of the oldest streets in Palma's old town, the hotel is ideally surrounded by some of Palma's most beautiful sights. The property, which was previously a family home, dates back to 1723 and has preserved many original elements, including hydraulic floors, coffered ceilings, and original wallpaper, windows and mouldings. Stylish interior design by Pablo Peyra of Barcelona combines these features alongside jewel tones and captivating Moroccan-inspired touches.

The Suites

The hotel's lush and verdant central courtyard, featuring a fountain and sumptuous sun loungers, is the focal point of the Riad and surrounded by 11 individually designed suites, some of which offer their own patio. The Master Suite, one of the newest additions, features a gigantic bathtub and bed to accommodate four guests alongside a maxi bar and cosy fireplace in the living room. Meanwhile in the Penthouse Suite, the private terrace with Balinese bed takes the spotlight.

The Riad's Moroccan hammam-style bathrooms feature double showers and sizeable bathtubs, promising an indulgent guest experience inspired the city's Arabic history.

The Restaurant-Cocktail Bar

The hotel's Morokko Restaurant is poised to open this month for evening meals, serving fusion cuisine in a vibrant atmosphere. One of the most exciting additions to the Palma dining scene, the restaurant will also transform into a cocktail bar each night. Head Chef Jose Ordoñez, who was previously at the luxury Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel, will be bringing his creativity and experience to Morokko's kitchen, which will be run in collaboration with the Mallorcan restaurant group Tast.

Palma Riad is an adults-only city retreat for the luxury traveller seeking an authentic and vibrant atmosphere. The hotel will be open all year round, with a fountain to cool off in the summer and fireplaces for the colder months.

The city of Palma is a traditional yet fashionable destination offering a wealth of culture, trendy restaurants, cafes, nightlife and a flourishing art scene. Palma Riad provides an exclusive hideaway in the heart of the Old Town, situated just a few minutes' walk from key landmarks such as Mallorca's Cathedral and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina.
