Get Cultural With a View: Shangri-La's Cultural Salon with Beatrix Ong MBE

18 August 2015: High up within The Shard, Shangri-La Hotel is hosting a series of Cultural Salons each month.  September's event has renowned shoe-designer, Beatrix Ong MBE, in conversation with Director of the Design Museum, Deyan Sudjic.  Beatrix rose to fame as the creative director of Jimmy Choo when just 22, before launching her own collection, which sold in her own boutiques and prestige stores around the world.  Today her designs feature in Pleasure and Pain exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum as well as its permanent collection.

On 2nd September she'll be talking about her design journey from London to China, and about the new direction of her latest range, which is sustainable, democratically priced, unisex and recycled! 

Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London's Cultural Salon events are all on an East Meets West theme, and allow ticket holders to learn fascinating insights from world experts on design, art, literature, fashion and music.  Glittering names ahead in the series include Edmund de Waal OBE and Sir David Tang KBE. For £20 attendees not only enjoy champagne and canapés prior to the talk, but also spectacular views across the capital.  The ticket price goes in its entirety the hotel's local partner charity, The Blackfriar's Settlement, who support the young and elderly in SE1.
