The new five-star Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen is about to become the city's hottest new dining destination with the opening this autumn of its stylish new restaurants and bars, including all- day dining Caf Zen, legendary Hong Kong Chinese restaurant Fook Lam Moon and Shangri-La's signature Lobby Lounge. The Italian Angelini Restaurant & Bar is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen will be nestled in the vibrant central business district of Futian surrounded by thriving malls and office towers, adjacent to the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and Shenzhen Civic Centre, with easy access to the Lok Ma Chau and Huanggang border crossings to Hong Kong.
Highlighted by its extensive show kitchen, Caf Zen on level one, with a mezzanine floor, will be a relaxed, comfortable, family friendly restaurant in the style of the highly successful dining concept for which cult Japanese design studio, Super Potato, is renowned. Outdoor dining will also be available on the terrace.
Caf Zen will serve theatrically cooked and served at individual food stations where the focus will be on regional specialities and local favourites typically found in Hong Kongs well-known tai pai dongs, as well as Asian and international cuisine. Chinese delicacies, showcasing the talents of leading noodle-makers along with Peking Duck, Mongolian specialities and various healthy double-boiled soups, are expected to be a popular attraction of the restaurant.
Certain food products used at Caf Zen will be locally sourced organic produce for a healthier version of traditional dishes. The hotels chefs will work closely with local farmers and producers to ensure reliable sources of fresh vegetables and herbs, dairy products and other menu items for the enjoyment and good health of its guests.
Fook Lam Moon promises the finest Cantonese cuisine in Shenzhen." The name Fook Lam Moon, which means "fortune and blessings come to your home", is the most famous name in gourmet Chinese cuisine in Hong Kong, with roots dating back to 1948 when Grand Master Chef Chui Fook Chuen catered lavish dinner parties for the citys tycoons. Today, its restaurants in Hong Kong, China and Japan continue to attract the business elite and a loyal following of celebrities and socialites. Well-known Hong Kong designer Steve Leung designed the latest Fook Lam Moon. The interiors will be predominantly red and gold, colours associated with happiness, fortune and extravagance, while crystal, glass and wood accents feature in the corridors and on the ceiling of each room, creating a rich ambience.
The menu highlights Fook Lam Moons signature delicacies including the highest grade Amitori Abalone, Superior Birds Nest, Sharks Fin, seasonal live seafood, Lobster Balls with Superior Sauce, Baked Stuffed Crab in Shell, Lotus Leaf Wrapped Fried Rice with Fresh Crab Meat, Conpoy, Diced Duck and Shitake Mushrooms and many others that have earned the restaurant a worldwide following.
The Lobby Lounge will occupy the hotels chandeliered lobby, serving a selection of coffees and teas with a variety of pastries, desserts, snacks and Western and Chinese high tea sets. In the evening, the Lobby Lounge will up the tempo with live entertainment, making it an attractive and inviting meeting place for signature cocktails and light dining into the early hours.
Completing the hotels dining venues is the contemporary Italian Angelini Restaurant & Bar, which will open in December this year. Accessible from the street and with an extensive outdoor terrace, it will feature two private rooms on a suspended mezzanine floor, an impressive refrigerated wine wall, as well as the citys largest selection of grappa and vodka. Angelini will cater for business lunches, relaxing afternoons and gourmet dinners with entertainment in the evening.
The lively bar will feature expert mixologists and an entertainment wall with a huge projection screen and seven 46-inch LCDs.
