Emilia-Romagna reopens to visitors

(London, 1st June 2023): Emilia-Romagna, a region in northern Italy, is once again open to visitors following the recent floods in May, thanks to the strong and decisive character of its inhabitants, the great efficiency and organisation of its services and the resilience of its territory and businesses.

Emilia-Romagna comprises of Bologna, Modena, Reggio-Emilia, Ferrara, Rimini, Piacenza, Ravenna, Parma and Forli-Cesena. The region has 11 art cities, four of which are UNESCO heritage sites, 18 pilgrimage routes, 17 natural parks, 11 amusement parks, 110km of beaches and 24 spas as well as being home to some of the best culinary specialities within Italy.

Travelling to Emilia-Romagna

The main road and traffic routes are open, including the A14 motorway and the Bologna-Rimini railway line. The Rimini-Ravenna section is also running and in operation. All regional airports - Bologna, Forlì, Rimini and Parma are open and operational, with flights returning to normal service. Cruises departing and arriving at the Ravenna Cruise Terminal in Porto Corsini are also operating.

Romagna Riviera

The Romagna River is once again accessible. The Romagna Riviera is the symbol of a summer holiday, on this stretch of the Adriatic coast, visitors can find some of the most famous beaches in Italy. Known for its clean, safe waters, on-trend entertainment, unparalleled hospitality, love and respect for nature as well as fantastic art, culture, food and wine. In the evening, it is transformed into the hub of Italy's nightlife with many venues, cocktail bars and clubs in Milano Marittima, Rimini and Riccione. It is great destination for families, groups of friends, single people and animal lovers – offering a number of dog friendly beaches.

Amusement Parks

Emilia-Romagna offers many theme parks, water parks and adventure parks, providing entertainment for families and groups of friends. All the region's amusement parks in Mirabilandia, Italia in Miniatura, Oltremare, Cattolica Aquarium, Fiabilandia are fully operational.

Cities of art and culture

Medieval and Renaissance historical centres, ancient and modern works of art, exhibition spaces for contemporary design and craftsmanship are accessible to the public. Ferrara, Modena and Ravenna are the three cities of art that conserve a number of UNESCO World Heritage sites, Parma is also a UNESCO creative city for gastronomy and its Baptistery has been listed by UNESCO among the sites of greatest astronomical value worldwide.
