AUTUMN EVENTS IN Palma de Mallorca

Autumn is events season for Palma; the city hosts a number of festivals, cultural and sports events throughout this period, making it an ideal time to visit this cosmopolitan city.

Festivals:

Ella International Women Festival from the 1st – 9th of September is the first event of the season, a festival created for the modern LGBT woman that includes different activities such as inspirational talks, art exhibitions, outdoor concerts and sport activities.

On the 11th & 12th September Palma will host the second edition of SolarFest Mallorca featuring some of the best of international indie-pop artists such as The Vaccines or the Kakkmaddafakka as well as local Mallorcan bands.

Cultural events:

On the 19th Palma celebrates La Nit de L'Art, Mallorca's premier art event with around 15,000 visitors descending on the city to explore and discover some of the most exciting exhibitions, performances, video-installations and urban installations in a mix of traditional art venues such as cafes, private apartments, studios, balconies and facades of historic buildings.

The Festival Música Mallorca starts on the 10th October until the 7th November offering a series of classical music concerts every Saturday at the Theatre Principal in Palma. Events include the Gala de Opera - Viva L'Opera starting on 10 October featuring the Augsburger Philharmoniker, Chamber concert 'El sonido de alma'  (the sounds of the soul) featuring the works of Vincenco Bellini, Franz Schubert and Frederic  Chopin on 17 October and 'Magic Violins' on 31 October where classic music meets pop, featuring the Orchester Rondo Vienna.

Festival Comic Nostrum is Spain's premier festival dedicated to the art of comics returning to Palma de Mallorca for its eighth edition. Taking place from 6 to 11 October, comic lovers can enjoy special exhibitions, events, debates and discussions. This year, the festival draws on the influence of the circus looking at an art form which is directed both at children and adults alike. Activity will be focused in and around the Bover Circus tent.

Sport events:

Skoda Triathlon Series is the first sporting event of the season taking place on the 6th September at the Port of Palma including three course levels; the Supersprint (350m swim, 10km cycle, 2.5km run), the Sprint (750m swim, 21km cycle, 5km run) and the Olympic (1500m swim, 40km cycle, 10km run. Palma looks forward to hosting the first edition of the renamed Palma de Mallorca Marathon (formerly known as the Tui Marathon) offering a 10k, a half marathon and a full length marathon on 18 September. The race starts by the sea in the Passeig Marítim, opposite the cathedral and offers one of Europe's most attractive routes.
