TOKYO SKYTREE Town®, the site of Japan's tallest structure, celebrated its 10th anniversary last week. An icon of Japan's pre-pandemic tourism boom, the birthday was celebrated with traditional taiko drumming and a kabuki performance live streamed from the highest point of the tower. As part of the anniversary an exhibition of Japanese anime takes over the Tower's Tembo Deck until 9 Aug 2022. Meanwhile Tokyo Tower, which opened in 1958, is not being left behind having launched RED° TOKYO TOWER Japan's largest esports park, offering esports competition with the latest motor racing, virtual reality, and games simulators.
About TOKYO SKYTREE Town®: Construction commenced in 2008 and in 2011 the tower reached its height of 634 metres making it the world's tallest freestanding broadcast tower. Opening to visitors on 22 May 2012 TOKYO SKYTREE Town® is centered on three facilities: the broadcast and observation tower 'Tokyo Skytree', the shopping centre 'Tokyo Solamachi', and a modern office skyscraper 'Tokyo Skytree East Tower', as well as an aquarium and a dome theatre. It is a town within the city and operates with consideration for the environment, and in cooperation with the local community. The site has become one of Tokyo's leading tourist attractions. The main tower has 2 observation decks located at 340m. and 450m. above sea level. The view of Tokyo and beyond is magnificent by both day and night. As the Sumida Ward proudly boasts a variety of traditional crafts and a deep historical past, the 'old meets new' contrast of traditional sites and the modernity of Tokyo are evident. Viewing the tower from a Tokyo Water Bus ferry on the Sumida River is another popular highlight for visitors and locals alike.
- TOKYO SKYTREE Town® 10th Anniversary Exhibition JoJo Tree: Japanese anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is celebrating 10 years too, so fittingly it is taking over the Tembo Deck at Tokyo Skytree this summer. The exhibition displays exclusive illustrations of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, with a Jolyne-themed photo spot and other exhibits. The graphics are accompanied by a voiceover explaining the story. The gift shop is stocked with exclusive goods and souvenirs. Fans of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure can indulge in themed meals in the café, they will also appreciate the six coloured light up of the tower, one for each of the characters in the story.

- RED° TOKYO TOWER- Esports Park: Japan's largest esports park opened at Tokyo Tower on 20 April 2022, with supporters hoping it will assist the country in developing a champion to challenge China in competitive gaming.
