Whether you want to push yourself to the limit or opt for slightly more leisurely activities, Geneva is a city synonymous with sports and adventure. With a range of world renowned sporting events taking place in and around this beautiful city this summer, there is no better time for sports lovers to visit Europe's leading city break destination.
If the combo of a 1.5k swim, a 40k cycle ride and a 10k urban run sounds like your idea of fun, then the Geneva Triathlon is the one for you! Not for the faint-hearted, the main triathlon takes place on the 15th July, taking you past some of the city's most iconic landmarks including Lake Geneva, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Europe, the Jet D'Eau, as well as through the quirky Downtown Geneva district. Post-race, why not recover those aching muscles with massage at La Reserve or Bain Bleu, two of Geneva's finest spas.
For sports lovers who like the water, the Bol D'or Mirabaud, one of Europe's largest sailing races, takes place on Lake Geneva between the 8-10 June. Often featuring unpredictably hazardous turns there's no doubt this race will challenge even the most experienced sailors.
If you want to live life at a slightly slower pace, there's certainly no shortage of activities… Head to the Bain des Paquis, Geneva's very own beach, for some urban swimming or a spot of sunset paddle-boarding.
If an action-packed weekend in Geneva is for you, then take advantage of the “Half Price” Package and enjoy the city's best hotels at half the regular price. The package also entitles you to free public transport throughout the stay with the Geneva Transport Card.
