Opening at the end of summer, 5&33 is a new lifestyle venue in Amsterdam incorporating an all-day kitchen, bar and multi-functional, public gallery accessible to all. 5&33 will feature one of the biggest permanent, interactive art installations in Europe, custom designed and created for the venue by innovative design and film studio, Present Plus, who are best known for their We Transfer file sharing service.
5&33’s kitchen will offer an all-day, shared dining concept inspired by the small plates-style of eating. Flavours and ingredients hail from all corners of the Mediterranean and food from the 5&33 kitchen will be available to order in all areas of the venue. 5&33’s bar will serve a wide choice of cocktails, hand-selected craft beers, a range of wines – including some by independent producers - and select spirits, with guest DJs spinning tracks on the bar’s own decks on various nights during the week.
5&33 will run a full and eclectic arts and cultural programme, as well as regular film nights, pop-up events, art installations, tasting evenings and other social events. The gallery will house exhibitions throughout the year and offer a flexible, multiple purpose space for a variety of uses. A 5&33 blog featuring engaging insider news, arts and culture articles, events listings, 5&33’s “happenings” calendar will allow followers to access sneak previews at the venue; menu tastings, arts events, special invitations and more.
Sitting proudly at the heart of 5&33, visible from all corners of the venue, the ground-breaking, interactive art curtain will project bespoke video art content by Present Plus across a 12m wide, 6m high living canvas. The platform of this ever-evolving, eye-catching visual art installation will also create a unique opportunity for local and international artists and designers to exhibit their work.
Esther Duller, PR Host and Artistic Manager of 5&33 commented, “We wanted to create a dynamically changing environment – a space where visitors feel inspired at every level. Our varied arts and cultural programme will engage the mind and our informal, shared dining ethos will encourage conversation and interaction around the table. Working with the creative 5&33 team, as well as Present Plus we have created a uniquely exciting offering in the city”.
The interior of 5&33 was designed by Eyal Shoan. It boasts a strikingly sleek, modern design, incorporating natural elements such as wood and glass as well as ‘industrial look’ accents – polished concrete floors and black steel pillars, gold and copper tones. An open kitchen will offer a full view to diners and the adjacent bar is built in a free-standing island format with seating surrounding the bar on all sides.
