From Oct 29 to Nov 2, 2014, all culinary enthusiasts are in for a rare treat as Le Royal Méridien Shanghai unveils a spectacular gastronomic journey like no other the city has seen.

 

Staged for the first time ever in Shanghai, “Hats Off”, an extraordinary culinary showcase, will bring together international and local masters of their own culinary expertise, through a series of intimate and engaging dining experiences.   

 

For 5 days from Oct 29 to Nov 2, be prepared to tantalize your taste buds and tickle your culinary senses as Le Royal Méridien Shanghai will pull out the stops to ensure all who appreciates fine cuisine, experience one of the most spectacular dining extravaganza the city has to offer.

 

The “Hats Off” culinary event will see 3 international acclaimed Michelin-star chefs – Mark Best,  Alvin Leung and Alfredo Russo – take to the kitchens of the award-winning restaurants at Le Royal Méridien Shanghai to share with their signature dishes and personal brand of culinary specials with the guests.

 

Being inventive, spirited, adaptive and progressive, Mark Best has deep passion for French cuisine. In 1995, he won the Josephine Pignolet Award and opened his own restaurant, Peninsula Bistro, Balmain, which soon developed a strong local following and rave critical acclaim. In 1998 he worked at 'L'Arpége' in Paris, Alain Passard's three Michelin Star Gastro Temple. Mark is an ambassador for AEG products and on the Culinary Council for the Holland America Line. Mark will take over award-winning Allure French Cuisine from Oct 29 to Nov 2 and impress the guests with his new creations.

 

Alfredo Russo was awarded a Michelin star just three years after starting his own adventure. He has won numerous acknowledgements at both the national and international levels and was invited to cook at important soirees for the International Olympic Committee and Unesco etc. in 2001, he was also at the UN Glass Palace to introduce Piedmontese cooking and high cuisine. Alfredo is also a coveted F&B consultant and an invited speaker at the world's most important high cuisine conventions. Alfredo will head up Favola Italian Restaurant from Oct 29 to Nov 2.

 

 

To tease your Oriental palette, Alvin Leung will lead the Aimei Chinese Restaurant during Nov, 1-2.  With Alvin's revolutionary approach to the culinary arts, the self-proclaimed “ Demon Chef” Alvin Lenug is the enfant terrible of Hong Kong's dining scene. His Bo Innovation boasts it unique “x-treme Chinese” cuisine, which has wowed diners and critics, and is Hong Kong's only independent restaurant to be awarded two Michelin stars. Alvin, who has no formal kitchen training, is only the second self-taught chef to ever receive Michelin stars after Heston Blumenthal.

 

All the three Chefs will also join our renowned la Vie en Rose Sunday Brunch at Le Bistrot on Nov 2 and present a new scene to the award-winning brunch with top notch culinary delights.

To be staged at the Royal Shanghai Grand Ballroom , the Gala Dinner will see diners savour signature canapés and cocktails before embarking on a true gastronomic delight of a 5-course set menu, paired with a wide range of exquisite wines.

“Hats Off” is Starwood Hotels & Resort's branded culinary showcase - a platform for multiple renowned chefs and the hotel group's talented culinary maestros to come together and create an extraordinary gastronomic journey for all fine cuisine enthusiasts. The event concept was developed in 2008 and was first kicked off at The Westin Beijing Financial Street , by its Executive Chef, Stephane Tremblay.
