KENNEBUNKPORT, ME - When Maine's Hidden Pond reopens this month for its fourth season, guests will delight in the resort's new Tree Spa, nestled among the balsam and birch groves overlooking the beach forest. With three treetop spa rooms, the Tree Spa features a range of therapies that utilize handmade herbal skincare preparations from Farmaesthetics as well as make extensive use of fresh ingredients picked from Hidden Pond's garden.
Suspended eight feet above ground, treatment rooms are connected by a walkway woven through the trees and are outfitted with birch cabinets, mirrors framed in tree bark and tree branches placed together to form circular tables. Smaller twigs are artfully placed on the walls. Guests will relax on tables adorned with plush bedding while listening to the sounds of the leaves rustling outside.
The Tree Spa products are designed to be as nourishing on the outside of the body, as their ingredients are to the inside. Free from chemicals and preservatives, the Farmaesthetic products are made with organically grown herbs, flowers, oils and grains. Milk, honey, lavender, oatmeal and cornmeal are all ingredients that will be incorporated into treatments as well as rosemary, mint and lavender from Hidden Pond's own farm.
"Hidden Pond is a celebration of nature, so when we were looking to build a spa for guests, what better place than to set it nestled among the treetops," said Natalie Ward, Managing Director of Hidden Pond. "Treatments will harness the nourishing properties of the earth, leaving guests feeling both relaxed and rejuvenated."
Each spa service is pre-ceded by a therapeutic, herbal infused food soak. Following is a sampling of Hidden Pond's spa experiences:
Pure Fusion Bamboo Therapy Massage: a unique and invigorating massage inspired by ancient Chinese, Indonesian and Japanese rituals using special heated bamboo sticks which symbolize life energy, strength and longevity. Stimulation of the tissue by the bamboo sticks helps promote circulation, lymphatic drainage and a deep sense of relaxation resulting in a whole-body tingling or a warming sensation.
Pure Earth Heated Stone Therapy: Heated basalt stones and warm aromatherapy oils are used in conjunction with long flowing strokes to penetrate tight muscles. The combination of deep heat and massage techniques melt away tension; a truly profound experience to feel relaxed, balanced and at peace.
Pure Bliss Luxury Facial: From head to toe, a sensory-rich experience that begins with warm steamed towels, a moisturizing treatment for the feet and legs, envelopment in warm paraffin, and gentle compression of the arms, neck and shoulders. Aromatherapy compresses begin the cleansing process, followed by exfoliation, an herbal steam, extractions if needed and facial massage. Soft brushes stimulate fluid flow in the connective tissue, giving a harmonizing and decongesting impulse to the skin. The treatment concludes with a nourishing mask and décolleté massage resulting in a glowing complexion and a feeling of lightness and inner balance.
Foot Treatments- An herbal infused foot soak, followed by an aromatherapy warm stone pressure point massage for the calves and feet will relax or invigorate. Choose from four different treatments utilizing rose petals, ginger, sugar and honey or soothing oats.
Treatment prices start at $75 for a 30-minute Pure Therapy Massage. For a full spa menu with pricing visit, visit www.hiddenpondmaine.com or call (207) 967-9050. Hidden Pond is located at 354 Goose Rocks Road, Kennebunkport, ME 04046.
