Japan's luxury ryokan brand HOSHINOYA recently introduced a new collection of immersive wellness experiences designed to restore balance in an increasingly fast-paced, information-heavy world.
Rooted in nature, seasonality, and traditional Japanese practices, each program offers a deeply personalised approach to wellbeing, going beyond conventional spa treatments to address both physical and mental restoration.
Launched in March 2026, the three wellness programs are available year-round as curated 3-day, 2-night stays. From forest immersion in Mount Fuji to sleep-focused remedies in Karuizawa and acupuncture-based healing in Kyoto, each experience is designed for travellers seeking meaningful respite, self-reflection, and long-lasting renewal.
Forest Wellness Solo Journey – HOSHINOYA Fuji
Set within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, HOSHINOYA Fuji is Japan's first glamping resort offering a nature-led wellness escape overlooking Lake Kawaguchi. Designed to counterbalance the stresses of modern urban life, the program encourages guests to reconnect with nature through movement, mindfulness, and nourishing cuisine.
The experience begins with a private guided cycling tour through the foothills of Mount Fuji, followed by an in-room treatment combining acupuncture, moxibustion, and shiatsu to restore the body. Guests then enjoy a nutrient-rich wild game shabu-shabu dinner on a private terrace, before embracing moments of stillness through early morning forest breathing and sensory experiences at the Cloud Terrace, creating a holistic journey of physical recovery and mental clarity.
Sleep Tourism Program – HOSHINOYA Karuizawa
Located at the foot of Mount Asama in Karuizawa, the birthplace of the brand, HOSHINOYA Karuizawa presents a wellness program dedicated to achieving deep, restorative sleep. Blending forest bathing, hot springs, and “good sleep” cuisine, the experience is designed to reset the body's natural rhythms and improve overall sleep quality.
From nutrient-focused meals that support sleep-regulating hormones to guided nature activities and customisable spa treatments, every element works in harmony to promote relaxation. Evening rituals, including personalised bedding, circulation-enhancing sleepwear, and mindful hot spring bathing, prepare guests for uninterrupted rest, resulting in a refreshed and revitalised awakening.
Oku-Arashiyama Wellness Harmony Program – HOSHINOYA Kyoto
Nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Arashiyama, HOSHINOYA Kyoto is a riverside estate offering a wellness program grounded in the principles of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements. Drawing on the philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the experience focuses on restoring balance through personalised acupuncture and moxibustion treatments over three days.
Guests also participate in tailored activities, such as meditative walks and cultural practices, aligned with their individual constitution, alongside carefully curated meals including refined Kaiseki. Together, these elements create a deeply introspective journey that harmonises the mind and body, supporting long-term wellbeing in a serene natural setting.
