PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA; March 16, 2026Tourism Western Australia invites Americans to journey to Broome (dually named Rubibi to honor its Aboriginal language origin)— the pearling capital of Australia and the western gateway to one of the world's last true wilderness areas—this week with the premiere of Season 2 of award-winning travel series Culture Quest on PBSBroome is featured in the first episode, which premieres today, March 16, 2026.

During Culture Quest's “Broome,” viewers can follow American TV Personality and Culture Quest Executive Producer Ian Grant across the region where he'll immerse himself in Aboriginal culture; learn about Broome's storied pearling history; wander through otherworldly natural landscapes; taste local cuisine; and gather with the community during the annual Shinju Matsuri Festival.

Viewers interested in experiencing the wonder of this region can book many of the tourism experiences showcased by Grant in “Broome” when they visit. Tourism experiences featured in the episode, in order of appearance, include:

  • Led by Johani Mamid—a proud Yawuru, Karrajarri, Nyul Nyul, Bardi man and Broome native—Mabu Buru Tours introduces visitors to the ancient culture of the Yawuru and Karajarri people through authentic Aboriginal experiences. Guests can look forward to traditional dance performances, tag-along driving tours, coastal foraging for mud crabs, stingrays, and fish, as well as cultural storytelling.
  • The Shinju Matsuri Festival returns to Broome from August 21-September 6, 2026 with dancing, music, art, cultural celebrations and unique food experiences, including a Hawker-style dining event and the Sunset Long Table Dinner on Cable Beach featured in “Broome.”
  • Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm is located at the tip of the beautiful Dampier Peninsula. The Brown family has been pearling and living on the farm since 1946, and Cygnet Bay is still renowned in the pearling industry today. Visitors can enjoy glamping-style and eco-friendly accommodations on property as well as cultural tours, sea and air safaris.
  • Spend the day with Aboriginal guide Rosanna Angus, a Jawi woman, during Oolin Sunday Island Cultural Tours. During the tour, visitors learn about Bardi Jawi culture and the Dreaming stories connected to Sunday Island while exploring the turbulent waters of the Pearl Passage.

“Broome and Cygnet Bay are without question some of the most surprising, exciting and magical places we have ever filmed,” says Grant.
