To mark International Whiskey Day, Le Méridien Melbourne will host a one-night Irish Whiskey Tasting Masterclass at INTERMISSION, the hotel's lobby bar on the Paris End of Bourke Street.

Taking place Friday 27 March from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, the pre-dinner tasting will guide guests through six expressions from some of Ireland's most respected distilleries.

The line-up reads like a tour through modern Irish whiskey. Guests will taste Jameson Black Barrel, Green Spot Single Pot Still, Method and Madness Single Pot Still, Redbreast 12 Year Old, Redbreast 18 Year Old, and Midleton Very Rare 2024 — the annual vintage release from the Midleton Distillery and one of the most sought-after Irish whiskeys produced each year.

A series of paired bites prepared by Le Méridien Melbourne's culinary team will accompany the tasting, designed to complement each whiskey and elevate the experience beyond a traditional masterclass.

The event forms part of Le Méridien Melbourne's monthly tasting series at INTERMISSION, which has quickly gained a following among Melbourne drinkers interested in learning more about wine and spirits in an intimate setting. While the series typically focuses on wine, this edition turns to Irish whiskey in honour of the global celebration of the spirit.

Held in the hotel's Bourke Street lobby, INTERMISSION has become a relaxed meeting place for coffee by day and wine, cocktails and tastings by night, hosting regular masterclasses that bring together producers, ambassadors and curious drinkers.

Tickets are $89 per person, including six whiskey tastings and paired bites.
