This March, Eight Restaurant at Cordis, Auckland invites guests to experience a bold celebration of one of autumn's most vibrant ingredients. From 6 to 15 March, Tomato Takeover Week transforms the restaurant into a farmers-market inspired showcase of seasonal produce, community connection and culinary craft.
At the heart of the concept is a simple philosophy: great hospitality starts with what's in season, who grows it, and how it's served. Designed to feel like a stroll through a local farmers market, the menu is fresh, generous and proudly local. Guests will move through Eight's signature interactive dining stations, discovering different techniques, cultures and flavour profiles — all connected by a single seasonal hero: the tomato. The creations will be available in addition to Eight's usual buffet experience. Guests can therefore enjoy the full breadth and abundance the restaurant is known for, while discovering specially crafted tomato dishes woven throughout the journey.
From raw and delicate preparations to sushis, gazpacho and truffles, Tomato Takeover Week explores the ingredient in all its versatility. Each station brings its own perspective, celebrating global culinary influences while honouring local growers and peak-season produce.
More than a themed week, Tomato Takeover reflects where Eight is heading creatively. It's about building menus with intention — starting with one ingredient at its peak and exploring it fully across cuisines, techniques and textures. The kitchen team is then more inventive, more focused and more expressive in how they design the dining experience.
At its heart, Tomato Takeover Week is designed as an experience — vibrant, generous and full of discovery. For anyone who loves great food, bold flavours and the joy of seasonal dining, this is a celebration not to be missed.
