Hoshino Resorts is one of Japan's leading hospitality groups, renowned for its distinctive accommodations and access to some of the country's finest winter landscapes. The group operates three major ski destinations celebrated for their exceptional snow conditions and reliable winter performance.
Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU, NEKOMA Mountain, Mt. T, and OMO7 Asahikawa reflect the group's mission to elevate Japan's winter playgrounds by combining diverse terrain with cultural depth and ease of access. NEKOMA Mountain and Mt. T further enhance their appeal through recent inclusion in the iconic Ikon Pass, the ultimate ticket to the world's premier ski destinations.
Each destination offers varied terrain and memorable snow experiences, from perfectly groomed runs to deep powder and backcountry zones, often with fewer crowds than Japan's most frequented mega-resorts.
If you're planning to visit Japan's slopes before the end of the 2025–2026 ski season or the next season, the following resorts and snow conditions are well worth considering.
Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU
Situated in the heart of Hokkaido, Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU is a large-scale ski destination celebrated for its light, dry powder and expansive terrain suited to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The resort is especially family friendly, with dedicated beginner areas, ski schools, and gentle slopes that allow children and first-timers to learn in a safe, supportive environment.
Beyond the slopes, Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU offers luxury accommodation, diverse dining options, and signature winter attractions such as the Ice Village, ensuring there's plenty to enjoy for both skiers and non-skiers alike. With everything conveniently located on-site, it delivers a seamless, all-in-one winter resort experience ideal for families and groups.
Day-to-day conditions:
Snow conditions this month have featured consistently deep, powdery accumulations, with summit snow depths often around 140 cm and regular fresh snowfall contributing to strong powder quality across both base and peak.
Hoshino Resorts NEKOMA Mountain
Located in Fukushima, just three hours from Tokyo, NEKOMA Mountain stands out among Japan's large-scale ski areas. Two former resorts, Alts Bandai in the south and Nekoma Snow Park in the north, were merged in 2023 and connected by a new lift to create one expansive destination.
Now offering 33 courses in total, NEKOMA Mountain is well suited to intermediate and advanced skiers while still providing options for beginners. Its “micro-fine snow,” an exceptionally dry powder of Japan's inland regions, delivers a unique and highly sought-after skiing experience, while its quieter atmosphere appeals to those seeking uncrowded slopes.
Day-to-day conditions:
This month has seen substantial and consistent snow coverage, with deep accumulations across both the South and North areas, including over 180 cm and up to 210 cm reported near the summit at peak times.
Mt. T by Hoshino Resorts
In 2024, Hoshino Resorts rebranded Tanigawadake Tenjindaira Ski Resort in Gunma Prefecture as Mt. T, marking a new era focused on extreme powder experiences. As part of this evolution, the ropeway was also renamed Tanigawadake Joch by Hoshino Resorts.
Positioned along the Tanigawa Mountain Range on Japan's Central Divide, the resort benefits from heavy snowfall driven by unique weather patterns. Its steep, natural terrain and ungroomed powder zones make it an ideal destination for skiers seeking challenge and depth.
Easily reached in around two hours from Tokyo, Mt. T combines lift-accessed terrain with backcountry opportunities and is known as “The Ultimate Powder Field,” offering limited-capacity powder access for a premium experience.
Day-to-day conditions:
This month has delivered consistently strong winter conditions, with substantial natural snowpack (including 240 cm reported on January 23) and cold temperatures preserving high-quality powder across the mountain.
OMO7 Asahikawa by Hoshino Resorts
OMO7 Asahikawa provides easy, hotel-supported access to Kamui Ski Links, Mt Asahidake, Pippu Ski Resort and Canmore Ski Village with free shuttle buses offering stress-free day trips from the city to one of northern Hokkaido's standout powder destinations.
The hotel features ski-friendly amenities including lift ticket sales, ski storage and drying rooms, and a wax bar, making it easy for guests to prepare and maintain gear between ski days. Staying in Asahikawa also allows visitors to explore local attractions and the vibrant dining scene of Hokkaido's second-largest city.
Day-to-day conditions:
This month has featured generally solid snow depths, with around 135 cm at the summit and 75-80 cm at the base. Regular light snowfall and cold temperatures have helped maintain dry, powdery coverage, with lifts and most runs operating throughout the month.
