Southwest Sydney is in for a sweet (or savoury) treat as Caffe Vicini opens its doors today, a stylish yet casual, all-day eatery owned and operated by chef Dany Karam, it is the second venue to launch as part of the new-look Cabravale Club Resort.
Caffe Vicini is an elevated cafe concept that adds something extra special to the everyday rituals of its local community. Karam has built a delicious all-day menu that celebrates the art of craftsmanship with an extensive array of bespoke juices, coffees, teas (including matcha), freshly baked pastries and deli cut sandwiches.
Karam has taken inspiration from growing up with his mother's home-baking in Lebanon, keen to serve honest food that brings happiness to his customers.
“I take a huge amount of pride in developing concepts that hero incredible produce, I wanted to bake everything in-house and fortunately found the right team to bring it all together. Caffe Vicini is a place to unwind, connect and take pleasure in life's daily rituals,” Karam said.
Karam has lent on his head chef Sebastien Geray and Michelin-trained French pastry chef, Manon Gonnet, who honed her skills at Château Richeux, Maisons de Bricourt, to bring his Caffe Vicini vision to life.
The extensive menu of over 50 specialty pastries and tarts will change daily depending on the availability of fresh ingredients and complement the delicious deli-style house made sandwiches and freshly baked cakes.
Each item on display is baked fresh daily, including all breads, cakes and pastries. Gonnet has expertly applied her pastry baking craft to the Caffe Vicini kitchen and helped design a selection of baked products that are traditionally French with layers of flaky pastry, rich buttery flavours and fresh creams and fruits throughout.
Standout specialty pastries on the menu include a Paris-Brest served with fresh praline flavoured cream, apple caramel danish, peach and fig tartlet and croissants served as plain, chocolate or almond.
Karam is using his impressive dry ageing facilities at Magma to prepare the cold meats for the deli style sandwiches which ensures a delicious taste and tender texture. Standout sandwiches are the Reuben which boasts dry aged Blackmore wagyu as its beef inclusion.
As an exciting new offering to the local area, Caffe Vicini will serve a late-night dessert menu until 10pm weekdays and midnight on the weekend. On offer will be freshly baked crepes and waffles loaded with your choice of toppings such as coconut mango, caramel apple, Nutella banana or pistachio strawberry.
Caffe Vicini also prides itself on being the go-to coffee destination for the local area, having built a selection of coffee, tea and matcha drinks that taste as good as they look. The partnership with Vittoria will see the cafe serve their “Rolls Royce” of their coffee portfolio, “Vittoria Lab Release”, a small batch, experimental blend representing the pinnacle of their roasting craft
Caffe Vicini is available for walk-ins and takeaway. Opening at 9am daily, until 9pm Monday to Wednesday, 10pm Thursday and Sunday, and midnight Friday and Saturday.
