Book a New Visa-Free Tour to China Right Now, With Distant Journeys

Distant Journeys

Thanks to new rules about to be put in place that allow UK citizens to travel to China without a visa, it is becoming easier than ever to book a bucket-list tour of Asia. However, while tour operators and holidaymakers await details of when the newly announced rules are to be implemented, it is still possible to explore China without a visa on Distant Journeys' new 'Highlights of China & Japan' tour.

Tour operator Distant Journeys has introduced the new 23-day tour for 2026, which allows British citizens to explore China visa-free for up to 10 days before reaching their final destination of Japan. Holidaymakers can book the tour safely in the knowledge that whenever the new regulations are implemented, they are still able to travel visa-free.

It's the first time the tour operator has offered a trip from Beijing to Tokyo, combining these iconic destinations into one unforgettable tour of East Asia.

Both countries are renowned for their unique blends of ancient cultures and timeless traditions that entwine seamlessly into modern life. From the majestic palaces and dynasties of China to the tranquil shrines and modern marvels of Japan, the new tour is a celebration of culture, contrasts and unforgettable encounters.

In China, guests can walk along the Great Wall and stand in awe at Xi'an's Terracotta Army, before meeting Chengdu's giant pandas and discovering Shanghai's mix of colonial charm and futuristic skyline.

On arrival in Japan, fondly referred to as the 'land of the rising sun', they will uncover Osaka's vibrant spirit, and reflect at Hiroshima's moving memorials. There is also the opportunity to wander through Kyoto's golden temples and experience the ritual of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. The tour ends in Tokyo, a city steeped in history, entwined with innovation.

The departure on 8th October 2026 currently costs £6,845 per person including a saving of £150pp when you book by 28th February 2026. Several departures in 2027 are also currently bookable.

Distant Journeys' tours include return international flights from the UK, overseas transfers and transport in modern air-conditioned coaches, quality accommodation in great locations, many meals worth £570 including daily breakfast, and entrance and national park fees, all accompanied by an experienced Tour Manager or local guide.
