The Peninsula Hotels announces the 2026 edition of 'Art in Resonance,' the hotel's renowned global art programme, featuring continued collaboration on a selected curation with the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A). Now in its second year under this prestigious partnership, the 2026 edition will debut at The Peninsula Hong Kong during the city's vibrant Arts Month in March 2026. This ongoing collaboration reaffirms both institutions' commitment to artistic excellence and global cultural exchange, while celebrating The Peninsula's long-standing legacy of cultural patronage.
Launched in 2019, 'Art in Resonance' is a global art programme for emerging and mid-career artists to create site-specific works in dialogue with the rich heritage and architectural spaces of the hotel group's properties globally. As part of this programme, the V&A, recognised as the world's leading museum of art, design, and performance, brings curatorial innovation and international expertise to a selected work, grounded in shared values of artistic excellence, global creativity and public engagement. The partnership with the V&A brings unparalleled curatorial expertise and access to a diverse network of emerging and mid-career artists, reinforcing the central role both institutions play as cultural leaders in luxury hospitality and museum practice.
Building on the success of The Peninsula Istanbul's 'Art in Resonance' programme showcasing works from internationally acclaimed Peruvian-born artist Grimanesa Amorós in autumn 2025, 'Art in Resonance' now returns to Hong Kong with a focus on elevating Asian artists on the international stage. The exhibition allows guests and visitors of The Peninsula Hong Kong to enjoy and engage with these experiential pieces.
“We are proud to continue our partnership with the V&A. This collaboration represents our shared vision to present world-class, immersive, and intentional art experiences that transcend borders and resonate with audiences around the world,” said Benjamin Vuchot, Chief Executive Officer, The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited. “As 'Art in Resonance' evolves and grows, it brings extraordinary works by some of the world's most visionary contemporary artists to our hotels, creating unexpected, inspiring, and genuine encounters for guests and our local communities.”
Commissioned to create an artwork for the façade of The Peninsula Hong Kong, a piece for all Hongkongers to enjoy, is Hong Kong artist Angel Hui. Her selection to represent the city at the 61st Venice Biennale, alongside fellow 'Art in Resonance' alumnus Kingsley Ng, reinforces the role of 'Art in Resonance' as a launchpad for world-class talent. Her façade installation will explore cultural identity through a contemporary lens, transforming the hotel's exterior into a dynamic canvas where heritage and innovation converge.
Presented in partnership with the V&A is Tokyo-based Indonesian artist Albert Yonathan Setyawan's contemplative ceramic installation. Set to grace The Lobby, his artwork draws on ritual, repetition, and sacred space, and embodies the programme's commitment to spotlighting cross-cultural artistic practices. Setyawan's commissioned site-specific artwork is curated by Dr Louis Copplestone, Curator for South-East Asia at the V&A. Copplestone, who previously held fellowships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Tokyo National Museum, earned his doctorate from Harvard University with a focus on Buddhist art and architecture. His curatorial practice brings a deep scholarly understanding of Asian visual culture and a global perspective that enriches the programme's intellectual and artistic dimensions.
On the first floor next to The Verandah, guests will encounter a new collaboration between celebrated architect-artist Dr. William Lim and luxury carpet house Tai Ping. A leading figure in Hong Kong's architecture and design community, Lim brings a multidisciplinary approach to his practice. This marks Tai Ping's second year of collaboration with 'Art in Resonance', continuing a shared exploration of materiality, heritage, and identity through design.
This year, 'Art in Resonance' will continue its expansion across The Peninsula Hotels' global portfolio, with commissioned pieces travelling to key cities worldwide. Among these is the piece She's Bestowed Love from artist Lin Fanglu, which was presented at The Peninsula Hong Kong as part of the 2025 'Art in Resonance' programme. The work is currently on display at the V&A South Kensington's Dimensions: Contemporary Chinese Studio Crafts exhibition through September 2026 and a portion of the piece is set to be presented at The Peninsula London in February.
Further details on programming, culinary and experiential packages for 'Art in Resonance' at The Peninsula Hong Kong will be announced at a later date. For more information about 'Art in Resonance', please visit https://www.peninsula.com/en/global-pages/art.
