Discover Gilbert, Arizona

Visitors to Gilbert will want to check out the digital Gilbert Public Art Map and embark on a self-guided hunt for larger-than-life art pieces in various mediums throughout America's largest town. At last count, the art map featured 70 artist installations, all located via GPS coordinates on the map for easy finding – from wrapped doorways and utility boxes to permanent installations at key visitor attractions and businesses. In Gilbert's Heritage District, art lines the streets, alleyways, and even the infrastructure, and is locally referred to as the 'Community Canvas'. Not to be missed urban art works include the colorful light installations at Water Tower Plaza, the Hearne Way hoop lights, which cast a neon glow on the stamped concrete sidewalks that feature nods to Gilbert's agrarian heritage, and the seasonal installations at Heritage Marketplace's pocket park. Rest easy on the art hunt and take a break on whimsical illuminated couches strewn throughout downtown Gilbert, all individually adorned by local artists and serving as colorful décor in the 'community's living room'. Don't miss the myriad murals on display that give a ton of character to the Heritage District's core regions.

Venture to other key attractions across Gilbert for even more vibrant sights. The newly completed Verde at Cooley Station retail experience features more than 25 large-scale murals, all created by Arizona artists and commissioned through the Verde Gilbert Community Arts Initiative and Artlink to enhance the center's ambiance with community-focused art. At Epicenter at Agritopia, art pops up around every bend for sidewalk surfers ready to snap a pic! All these works can be located via their GPS coordinates on the interactive Gilbert Public Art Map: https://gilbertaz.gov/artmap

Additionally, from October to March, visitors can enjoy the free Gilbert Art Walk. Offered on the first and third Saturdays during peak visitation season, this outdoor market-style event is a family- and pet-friendly art show featuring live music. Explore a wide range of art mediums, including jewelry, painting, ceramics, woodworking, photography, and more.
