In Gilbert's Heritage District, art lines the streets, alleyways, and even the infrastructure, and is locally referred to as the 'Community Canvas'. Not to be missed urban art works include the colorful light installations at Water Tower Plaza, the Hearne Way hoop lights, which cast a neon glow on the stamped concrete sidewalks that feature nods to Gilbert's agrarian heritage, and the seasonal installations at Heritage Marketplace's pocket park. Rest easy on the art hunt and take a break on whimsical illuminated couches strewn throughout downtown Gilbert, all individually adorned by local artists and serving as colorful décor in the 'community's living room'.
