 InterContinental Halong Bay Resort

LONDON, 8 December 2025InterContinental Halong Bay Resort reveals its architecturally striking and sensorially immersive design. Conceptualised by globally acclaimed luxury hospitality firm WATG, in collaboration with Thailand's esteemed interior design house P49Deesign, the resort's aesthetic is a masterclass in storytelling through space. Every detail has been thoughtfully orchestrated to evoke the rich cultural tapestry of Ha Long Bay, from Vietnamese folklore to the region's breathtaking natural landscape, while embracing contemporary design. This harmonious blend invites guests on a multi-sensory journey where tradition and modernity converge in a celebration of place and purpose.

Lobby And Arrival Experience

Upon entering the lobby, guests are greeted with panoramic views of Ha Long Bay, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the natural artwork. Intricate patterns and tactile overhead structures adorn the walls, taking inspiration from Vietnam's traditional bamboo basket boats. Deep seated turquoise sofas paired with natural rattan armchairs, geometric rugs and shining metal surfaces complete the space.

Guestrooms

The resort comprises 275 rooms, suites and villas, each embodying the vibrant floating fishing villages and celebrating the dramatic colours of the mountains, sea, and islands beyond. Shimmering blue upholstery, brass accents and playful textures reminiscent of fish scales, rippling waters and iridescent pearls feature throughout.

Restaurants & Bars

The resort's six distinct restaurants and bars are each designed to complement the surrounding landscape. Roku & Star Bar, perched on the rooftop, features a striking bamboo ceiling installation, inspired by the Vietnamese "descending dragon" myth, while Marina Kitchen evokes a sense of tranquillity with décor reflecting the delicate brushstrokes and soft colours of Vietnamese paintings. La Baguette fuses Parisian chic with local touches, combining jewel-toned velvets and white marble, with emerald green tiles reminiscent of Ha Long Bay's shimmering waters. Del Mar, a lively poolside retreat, draws inspiration from the vibrant Cua Van fishing village with cobalt blues, marigold accents, and a lantern-inspired wooden roof. Meanwhile, VUE, in the main lobby, sets a refined tone with deep blues, misty greys, and golden yellows, providing a serene setting for high tea or evening jazz. Yulong Mansion (opening in 2026) creates a theatrical Cantonese dining atmosphere with circular communal tables, intricate floral upholstery, and intimate lighting.

Hidden Lagoon

The hotel's signature spa draws from the serene mountains, with textured materials like stone, wood, and natural fibres reminiscent of the bay's rugged limestone karsts and twinkling caves. Every detail of the spa's design will encourage guests to reconnect with nature, offering a truly restorative experience and sense of escape.

The Planet Trekker Kids' Club and Club InterContinental

Designed for young explorers, The Planet Trekker Kids' Club is a nautical-themed playroom, featuring a wooden sail ship, a jungle-covered climbing gym, deep-sea imagination zones, and underwater-themed nap areas. In contrast, Club InterContinental offers adults a refined retreat inspired by Vietnamese pottery, with hand-painted patterns, earth tones, and plush furnishings. Long, cascading light fixtures add to the ambiance, inspired by the region's famous bioluminescence which illuminate Ha Long Bay's waters.

Special Events & Meeting Spaces

Featuring five dedicated event spaces, the resort offers versatile venues for every occasion. The elegant Grand Ballroom is the largest space, accommodating up to 1,050 guests and is inspired by the enchanting glow of local fishing boat lanterns. These lanterns symbolise warmth and community, illuminating the bay with a magical light. The ballroom emulates a lantern lit Ha Long Bay night, creating an impressive yet intimate space that blends cultural storytelling, modern luxury and a sense of wonder through clever lighting and textural interplay.
