Rottnest Fast Ferries, the only locally owned and operated ferry company to Rottnest Island, is proud to announce that their newest vessel, Ocean Master, will commence her first full Rottnest season this Friday 5th December.
The state-of-the-art 32-metre catamaran arrived at Hillarys Boat Harbour and launched into service late December last year. Purpose-built for travel to Rottnest Island with capacity for 400 passengers, spacious cargo holds and plenty of space on the bow for bikes, Ocean Master's first crossing of the season will be at 11:30am this Friday.
Designed by Incat Crowther and built by Austal Australasia, Ocean Master is the first custom-built Rottnest vessel to come into service for 25 years.
“Ocean Master is a testament to our commitment to investing in the long-term success of Western Australia's marine and tourism industry,” said Luke Crispin, Founding Director of Pinnacle Travel Group, which includes Rottnest Fast Ferries. “We're excited to welcome passengers aboard for her first full Rottnest season.”
Graeme Skeggs, Director of Sales and Commercial Partnerships for Pinnacle Travel Group, added: “It's amazing to realise that Ocean Master is the first purpose-built Rottnest vessel to come into service this century. It represents an unparalleled private commitment to the success of Rottnest Island, unsurpassed by our competition.”
Equipped with cutting-edge and eco-friendly stabilisation technology that actively reduces roll and pitch for a smoother ride, Ocean Master will support sister vessel Harbour Master to ease operational demands and enhance access to the island over the peak travel period to Rottnest.
Located approximately 19km off Perth's coastline, Rottnest Island is world-renowned for stunning reefs, crystal clear waters and unique wildlife, most famously the 'smiling' quokkas.
Ocean Master recently finished her first whale watching season with Whale Watching Perth, also part of Pinnacle Travel Group. With expansive decks and a unique stepped deck providing unmatched views, plus new early morning departures, Whale Watching Perth recorded a 20% increase in passenger numbers compared to last season. Whale watching tours run annually out of Hillarys Boat Harbour from mid-August to early November.
With Ocean Master now fully integrated into the Rottnest Fast Ferries fleet, Pinnacle Travel Group is excited to continue offering exceptional travel experiences to both locals and tourists visiting one of Australia's most iconic destinations.
