Los Angeles Tourism Expands Apac Team With New in-House Communications Director

Los Angeles Tourism

SYDNEY (November 18, 2025) – Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (Los Angeles Tourism) today announced the appointment of Myfanwy McGregor as Director of Global Communications, Asia Pacific. This newly created role will strengthen the organisation's inhouse capabilities across the region, with McGregor overseeing communications strategy, execution, and agency management in key markets including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, and emerging markets across Southeast Asia. She will report directly to Craig Gibbons, who has been promoted to Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific.

This marks McGregor's first in-house position, following a successful agency-side career across Australia and the UK. She founded and led two award-winning PR agencies — Adhesive and Frank PR — and brings extensive experience across entertainment, media, consumer technology, telecommunications and FMCG. Her passion for travel and tourism has driven recent client work on ideas-led campaigns for Singapore Tourism Board, Stayz, Changi Airport Group, Los Angeles World Airports, and Los Angeles Tourism.

McGregor said: “There is nothing quite like the spirit and energy of Los Angeles. I first visited in my early 20s on a business trip and I instantly fell in love — the diverse neighbourhoods, pictureperfect vistas, cutting-edge arts and culture, thriving nightlife, and that unmistakable Hollywood magic. I've returned more times than I can count, and I always discover something new. Having previously worked agency-side with Los Angeles Tourism, I'm thrilled to re-join the team. It's an incredibly exciting time for the City of Angels. With major global events such as the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games on the horizon, plus highly anticipated openings like the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, there are countless storytelling opportunities I look forward to sharing across the region.”

McGregor's appointment follows Gibbons' recent promotion to Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific, further strengthening the Sydney-based team, which also includes Kathleen Brown, Director of Travel Trade, Asia Pacific, who joined in 2018.

Gibbons joined Los Angeles Tourism in 2014 to establish the organisation's Sydney office. Initially responsible for Australia and New Zealand, his remit expanded in 2019 to include Southeast Asia. He has since led integrated marketing, public relations, aviation development, and travel trade strategies positioning Los Angeles as the leading North American gateway for Asia Pacific travellers.

Gibbons said: “Australians have a genuine affinity for Los Angeles, and the city remains the most popular gateway to North America1 . Expanding our team underscores the importance of Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region—including fast-growing markets such as Korea and Japan—and the critical role they continue to play in our global recovery. Strengthening our inhouse capabilities ensures we can deliver even more focused, impactful media and trade initiatives that support our partners and drive sustained growth across the region”.

Gibbons brings more than 19 years of tourism marketing and sales experience across Australia and the United Kingdom, including senior roles with VisitBritain, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism, NRMA Travel, and Qantas Airways. He has also served as Chair of the ASEAN Tourism Chapter and as a board member of Visit USA Organisation Australia.
