Bamburgh, Northumberland — Bamburgh Castle's enchanting new festive experience, Treasured Tales is now open marking the start of a magical Christmas season at one of the world's most dramatic and storied coastal castles.
Inspired by beloved childhood classics and timeless fairytales, Bamburgh Castle has been transformed into a glittering storybook kingdom where fantasy and festivity meet in a spectacular celebration of imagination and wonder.
Created by acclaimed theatrical designer Charlotte Lloyd Webber and her award-winning CLW Event Design team, Treasured Tales is one of the largest indoor festive installations in the North East region, filling the Castle's state rooms with immersive storytelling displays and lavish decorative scenes.
Charlotte Lloyd Webber said:
“We are thrilled to present Treasured Tales and share this imaginative world. Bamburgh Castle carries such presence and atmosphere – it is made for storytelling. We've drawn from the stories many of us have carried since childhood, reimagining them in playful, enchanting and visually lavish ways. It's a place to rediscover wonder – whether you come for Christmas, for the Castle, or simply to step into a world of pure imagination and joy.”
Visitors are invited to follow a spectacular narrative trail through the Castle, with scenes from Aladdin, Jack and the Beanstalk, Treasure Island and other timeless favourites brought to life through atmospheric design, theatrical scale and inventive visual interpretation.
Karen Larkin, Visitor Services Manager at Bamburgh Castle, said:
“It's always a magical moment when we open the doors to our Christmas experience, but this year is truly special. Treasured Tales is designed to captivate everyone, from the very young to the young at heart. The installation enhances the Castle's beauty rather than disguises it, so visitors can still enjoy Bamburgh's remarkable state rooms, artefacts and history with the added delight of nostalgia, joy and festive sparkle.”
Among this year's highlights are Twilight Christmas Evenings each Thursday, offering visitors the rare opportunity to explore the Castle after dusk.
Treasured Tales runs until Sunday 4 January with entry included with general admission. Tickets are available online at www.bamburghcastle.com or on the gate.
Other seasonal activities at Bamburgh Castle include Meet Father Christmas Experiences and Christmas Wreath Making Workshops. Full details are available online.
