The Buchinger family is delighted to announce the opening of a new Buchinger flagship in the hills above the Côte d'Azur, bringing over 100 years of expertise in Buchinger fasting, cutting edge research and longevity medicine to the south of France.

Founded in 1920 by Dr Otto Buchinger, Buchinger is now led by the fourth generation of the European family, with renowned residential clinics at Lake Constance, Germany (1953) and in Marbella, Spain (1973). Guests at the new flagship will experience the same commitment to enabling people to enjoy healthier, more fulfilling lives by supporting the body's natural ability to heal. A series of medically supervised fasting programmes will feature comprehensive medical and nutritional therapies, sport and fitness, diagnostics, yoga and meditation, and a rich choice of cultural activities.

The opening of a third Buchinger centre in the South of France reflects the family's identity and commitment to establishing a European ecosystem of integrative medicine. The goal is to add health and longevity to the many attributes of the Côte d'Azur.

The new centre brings the Buchinger Method to life through architecture: the new health resort will be designed by renowned architect firm GOMIS & Associés from Nice, and esteemed interior designer Matteo Thun from Milan. Together, the team will create spaces that embody the brand philosophy of health, sustainability, and longevity.

The project has been awarded the “Gold Standard” of the BDM – Bâtiment Durable Méditerranéen sustainability certificate by an expert jury. This prestigious recognition highlights the resort as a pioneer of sustainable construction in the region. According to the jury, it is one of the first projects of its kind to translate the Buchinger philosophy into a contemporary architectural form while meeting the highest environmental standards. The award is rarely bestowed and acknowledges the substantial effort invested in planning, with the project also receiving the ECRAINS certification for outstanding air quality.

Leonard Wilhelmi, great-grandson of Dr Otto Buchinger and CEO of Buchinger Wilhelmi, Lake Constance, says: “We are proud to bring the Buchinger Method to the Côte d'Azur, a place which reflects the Buchinger spirit – beautiful natural surroundings, the Mediterranean Sea, cultural offerings in art and music, and bio dynamic agriculture. The French culture and language has long been engrained into our family. French is one of the most spoken languages in our Lake Constance and Marbella clinics, so we feel a deep affinity with the French people, and are proud of our ongoing collaborations with French universities and research institutions.”

At this 95-room Buchinger centre, guests will benefit from a fasting method underpinned by a unique combination of scientific research, the warmth of family care and a sense of community. Guests can also expect an emphasis on creative inspiration, with planned collaborations with French and international artists enhancing the overall experience.

About Buchinger

The Buchinger story began in 1920 when Dr Otto Buchinger, then a young naval officer, sought alleviation for crippling rheumatoid polyarthritis. Unable to find a conventional medical approach to support his condition, he turned to fasting which saved his “life and existence” and formed the basis for a new Buchinger Method of medical therapeutic fasting.

Today, Buchinger clinics welcome guests from more than 70 countries worldwide, with a repeat rate of over 70%. In addition to being centres of healing and prevention, they are also centres of research. Working in close collaboration with leading universities such as Milan, Strasbourg, Charité Berlin and King's College London, a full time in house team of four research specialists conduct and publish regular studies about the safety and efficacy of the Buchinger Method.

Over four generations of family leadership, the Buchinger Method has been refined into a model of integrative medicine, offering personalised programmes focused on optimal weight, metabolic health, longevity and systemic reset. These programmes combine physical, mental and spiritual regeneration within a collective medical context, and are delivered under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of medical doctors, nutritionists, psychologists, therapists and coaches. State-of-the-art facilities, together with a privileged natural environment, provide the framework for guests to achieve sustainable health outcomes.

A typical stay at Buchinger lasts from 10-21 nights. For more information, visit www.buchinger-wilhelmi.com
