Basketball fans are set to discover a new kind of winning experience, with SeaLink South East Queensland partnering with the Brisbane Bullets to shine a spotlight on one of Queensland's most iconic destinations—North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah).
The partnership will bring together the energy of professional sport and the natural beauty of Straddie, using game-day activations, digital campaigns, and fan giveaways to inspire Bullets supporters to take their passion for the game beyond the court and out to the island.
Where sport meets escape
Just a short SeaLink ferry ride from Brisbane, Straddie offers the ultimate pre-or post-game getaway. Fans can swap the roar of the stadium for the sound of rolling waves, trading basketball courts for sandy beaches and island trails.
After the buzzer, it's time for:
- Beach escapes – from Main Beach and Cylinder to Deadman's and Frenchman's beaches, perfect for cooling off after the game.
- Island adventures – bushwalks, including the North Gorge Walk, sandboarding, four-wheel driving, and freshwater lakes.
- Wildlife encounters – spotting whales and dolphins at Point Lookout, and kangaroos and koalas around the Island.
- Local hospitality – laid-back cafes, fresh seafood, and a welcoming island community.
- Cultural connections – discover experiences shared by the Quandamooka People, Traditional Custodians of Minjerribah.
A Shared commitment to community
Ben Renwick, General Manager of SeaLink South East Queensland, said: “This partnership is about more than sport and travel, it's about connecting communities.”
Just as the Brisbane Bullets inspire fans with their skill and teamwork, North Stradbroke Island inspires visitors with its natural beauty and unique culture. We're excited to invite Bullets fans to experience the island for themselves and see why it's one of Queensland's most treasured destinations,” Mr Renwick continued.
Malcolm Watts, CEO of the Brisbane Bullets, added: “North Stradbroke Island is one of Queensland's most iconic destinations, and this partnership gives us a fantastic opportunity to share it with our fans.”
Working with SeaLink means we can inspire supporters to experience Straddie for themselves—and we know that once they've made the trip, they'll be eager to come back again,” Mr Watts said.
Building bridges between fans and the Island
Through the partnership, SeaLink and the Bullets will:
- Activate Straddie-themed promotions at home games.
- Run competitions and giveaways, with trips to the island up for grabs.
- Use digital and social media campaigns to highlight the island's attractions.
