Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), renowned for its independently minded portfolio of boutique properties, continues its impressive growth, announcing 49 exceptional additions to its portfolio in the first half of 2025. This follows a record-breaking 2024, in which the brand saw 82 new signings. Joining more than 620 independently minded hotels across 90+ countries, SLH's latest additions promise unforgettable experiences in Japan, Mexico, India and more.
“2024 was a record year for SLH, and 2025 is shaping up to surpass it,” said Richard Hyde, Chief Operating Officer, Small Luxury Hotels of the World. He added, “As the demand for genuine and intimate luxury stays continues to soar, we are in the right place at the right time. Our expanding and diverse portfolio of independent properties ensures there's something for every discerning, independently minded traveller.”
Below is an overview of SLH's 2025 new additions:
2025 Openings
Of the 49 additions, nine are 2025 new openings. February 2025 saw the opening of La Valise Mazunte, Mexico. Cradled between Oaxaca's rugged cliffs and the Pacific Ocean, the hotel has been crafted from locally sourced materials and designed with open, flowing spaces that mirror the rhythm of the waves - a spectacular addition to the captivating, raw beauty of its surroundings. July 2025 welcomed The James Suite Hotel Firenze 1564, a hidden retreat in the centre of Florence, housed in a 16th-century Renaissance palazzo built in 1564, preserving original features including vaulted ceilings, frescoed walls and a secret garden. In September, the much-anticipated new hotel from Château de Maubreuil, Maison Maubreuil will open its doors – offering a city-centre complement to the château's countryside retreat, with the same immersive rooms, art, wellness and fine dining offerings, but with an urban feel and smaller scale. The luxurious mountain retreat, Maya Hotel Courchevel 1850 will open in the heart of Courchevel in December, with easy access to the slopes and nearby boutiques. Its subtle Japanese influence across its architecture and design, by renowned architect and designer, Sylvestre Murigneux brings a refined and restorative ambiance to this intimate hotel. December will also welcome the opening of Levantine Hill Hotel, a suite-only hotel in Victoria's famous wine region, Yarra Valley. Proximity to Levantine Hill Estate's cellar door and restaurant will allow guests to indulge in exceptional dining experiences. Similarly slated for a December opening, set against a sparkling Caribbean backdrop, ONE | GT Grand Cayman is a new development that will bring elevated living, world-class cuisine and the island's first rooftop infinity pool to Grand Cayman.
Other new openings: Aurora Rincon, Rincon, Puerto Rico; Trusko Resort, Romania; House of Hütter - Münchner Kindl, Munich Bayern, Germany.
New Destinations
As SLH continues to expand its portfolio, it further enhances its global presence by introducing new destinations around the world. In Germany, the highly celebrated Wilmina Hotel marks SLH's arrival in Berlin. The spectacularly transformed hotel, once a former courthouse and prison is now one of the trendiest and most unusual hotels in the city, and has won numerous architecture prizes. It's location on a lively, yet very local stretch of West Berlin, attracts few tourists, making it even more of a special find, providing an authentic taste of the city. With sweeping views of the Black Sea, sophisticated design, exceptional service and world-class golfing amenities, Boutique Hotel by BlackSeaRama is SLH's first hotel in Bulgaria. Conveniently located on the eastern corner of the Xi'an City Wall, Younch Hotel is SLH's first hotel in this historic destination. With just 16 intimate rooms, it sits at the eastern gateway to the storied Silk Road. The hotel provides an oasis of calm, luxury and comfort, and a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Showstopping Properties
Located in some of the world's most captivating destinations, these showstopping properties add a unique flavour to the SLH portfolio and perfectly embody the essence of intimate luxury and world-class hospitality. In Kyoto, FAUCHON L'Hotel Kyoto blends traditional Japanese artistry with French culinary sophistication. Every inch of the hotel feels decadent and glamorous, with gastronomic excellence everywhere you look. L'Auberge de Sedona in Arizona is one of the area's most celebrated luxury hotels - a serene retreat along the red rock canyons, it offers picturesque natural surroundings and tranquil, rejuvenating spa experiences. Amaya is a luxurious sanctuary tucked into the India's western Himalayas offering both relaxation and adventure. The property was designed by celebrated architect, Bijoy Jain and is a masterful expression of place – where architecture, landscape, and culture converge.
The 'It girl' of the roaring twenties and the original flapper, Zelda Fitzgerald is the inspiration behind Zelda Dearest, a chic, eclectic boutique hotel that blends the spirit of North Carolina hospitality with Jazz Age glamour, offering guests a cosy, yet luxurious atmosphere to relax, unwind and immerse themselves' in the city's vibrant culture. Tucked into an avenue just off the Champs Elysées, the Marquis Faubourg Saint-Honoré is Parisian chic at its finest. Timelessly elegant in warm Paris stone, it's immediately clear that this suite-only hotel, previously the 18th century private mansion of the marquis de la Fayette is a place where every detail is honed – from the exquisite décor to the discreet personalised service.
City Stays
Putting the city at your feet, these new SLH city centre hotels put guests at the heart of where it happens, perfect for cultural weekend breaks, romantic getaways and more. Cuvée J2 Hôtel Osaka by Onko Chishin in Osaka, Japan is a concept-led hotel celebrating the world's finest Champagnes. Each spacious floor contains a single suite dedicated to a prestigious Champagne house. Exclusive, boutique and sleekly minimalist, this intimate, elegant hotel is an escape from the city's bustling streets. Over in Tokyo, TAKAWANA HANAKOHRO is a traditional Japanese ryokan in the heart of the city, offering an extraordinary fusion of luxury and tradition, where a stay feels like a time machine has taken you back in time, but with all the modern comforts of today. Standing in the corner of Seville's lively Barrio de Triana, Cavalta Boutique Hotel offers a genuine connection to local Andalusian life and a relaxing stay in luxury surroundings. With just 12 rooms, it is small but perfectly formed and an ideal base for a weekend break – an oasis of cool in a city packed with culture.

Secluded Sanctuaries
Among the new additions to the SLH portfolio, many are secluded sanctuaries offering peaceful retreats amidst nature. Tucked away amid the winding bougainvillea-clad streets of Alaçatı, Kestelinn Alaçati is a hideaway in one of Türkiye's most delightful undiscovered corners. Once a simple stone house, it is now a charming home-from-home with just seven rooms. It's the perfect base from which to explore the area's old-world charm and superb beaches. In Argentina's Patagonia region, Villa Beluno Hotel and Spa offers an intimate escape with spectacular views of mountains and serene lakes. From cedar-scented sauna sessions and laps in the heated infinity pool, to cosy wine tastings, and hot tea served in the hotel's lush winter gardens, it would be easy to stay cossetted in the heart of the hotel, but adventures too grand to miss await from skiing snowcapped peaks to kayaking crystalline lake waters.
