The Savannah Bananas, the wildly entertaining, viral baseball team that's been taking social media by storm have announced Pittsburgh as one of the standout stops on their 2025 Banana Ball World Tour. The team will bring their unique brand of sport-meets-spectacle to Pittsburgh's very own PNC Park on 29 and 30 August 2025 and take on the Pirates.

Best known for their fast-paced, TikTok-friendly games that mash up traditional baseball with choreographed dances, surprise stunts and a strict two-hour time limit. The Bananas high-energy content has racked up hundreds of millions of views online, turning them into a pop culture phenomenon and helping to engage a new generation of fans.

Their 2025 tour will see them play in some of the USA's most iconic stadiums, and Pittsburgh's inclusion cements the city's importance as a must-visit destination sport destination. PNC Park, home to Major League Baseball team the Pittsburgh Pirates, is regularly recognised as one of the best ballparks thanks to its epic skyline views, intimate atmosphere and picturesque setting on the banks of the Allegheny River.

Time Your Visit for a Baseball Game

If you didn't manage to snag yourself tickets to the highly anticipated Savannah Bananas versus the Pirates, fear not, as the season is in full swing (pun intended). The Pirates have weekly home games scheduled well into September against the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs. Grab tickets for these fixtures on mlb.com/pirates, from as little as £25 a ticket.

The sport of baseball has deep roots in Pittsburgh and few athletes have left as lasting a mark on Pittsburgh as Roberto Clemente. The legendary Puerto Rican baseball star who played for the Pirates from 1955 until his untimely death in 1972, was a proud Puerto Rican who stood against racial injustice and used his platform to support underprivileged communities. Fans admired his humility, kindness and determination to help others.

Today, Clemente's legacy lives on in Pittsburgh with the Roberto Clemente Bridge, otherwise known as Sixth Street Bridge and the Clemente Museum, housed in a restored firehouse in Lawrenceville. The museum celebrates his life, career and humanitarian work, with a collection of personal items, photographs and memorabilia that reflect both his sporting achievements and generous spirit.

To explore some of the city's 60+ unique breweries, let yourself be guided by City Brew Tours Pittsburgh, which offers full transportation and behind-the-scenes access to some of the best breweries.

If you'd prefer to go it alone, explore the neighbourhood of Lawrenville, just a 10-minute drive away from PNC Park. Great for pre or post game drinks, it's home to a plethora of breweries all within walking distance of each other and the Clemente Museum. Highlights include:

Set in a cosy historic house in Lawrenceville, Arsenal Cider House specialises in handcrafted ciders and meads. With a patriotic theme and a garden patio, it offers everything from dry apple ciders to spiced seasonal blends in a laid-back, rustic setting.

The spacious Strip District taproom, known as Cinderlands Warehouse, features a rooftop with sweeping views of downtown Pittsburgh, a perfect backdrop to keep the post-game baseball energy running high. Known for its creative small-batch beers, from juicy IPAs to foeder-aged saisons and a standout food menu, it's a lively, stylish spot.
