Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg, Texas: A Bavarian Celebration in the Heart of the Hill Country

Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau

This autumn, discover a taste of Bavaria in the Texas Hill Country at Fredericksburg's annual Oktoberfest, taking place 3-5 October, 2025. The historic Marktplatz in the heart of Fredericksburg will host this celebration of German culture, featuring traditional music, food, and festivities for all ages.

A Celebration of Heritage

Founded in 1846 by German settlers, Fredericksburg maintains its heritage through distinctive architecture, authentic cuisine, and welcoming hospitality. The Oktoberfest tradition began in 1981 when the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance established the festival to support local arts. Today, proceeds fund art scholarships for Gillespie County students and community programmes including the free Marktplatz Musical Evenings.
