Greenwich Market Launches 2025 Young Market Entrepreneur Competition in Celebration of 40 Years of Arts & Crafts

London, July 23, 2025 — In celebration of 40 years as a hub for arts and crafts, Greenwich Market is proud to announce the exciting Market Entrepreneur 2025 competition — a platform designed to spotlight the next generation of creative business minds.

Greenwich Market has been operating since 1737, established by a Royal Charter in 1700 and began its transformation into a haven for antiques, art and craft in 1985. This year, the Market commemorates four decades of supporting independent artisans and innovative entrepreneurs, and it's calling on young creators aged 16 to 30 years to take part in its celebratory competition.

Applications are now open for young makers and entrepreneurs eager to showcase their ideas and win the opportunity to trade at one of London's most iconic and bustling markets. The grand prize:

Four weekends of trading at Greenwich Market in September for the winner, and two weekends for the runner-up.

How it works:

  1. Entrants must submit their application and a product photo by 4 August 2025: Apply Here
  2. Up to 10 applicants will be shortlisted and invited to trade at the Market on Friday 15 August, receiving mentoring from experienced Greenwich Market professionals. They will also receive free registration to continue trading via Manage My Market.
  3. On the day, four traders will be selected by a panel of judges to return and trade on Saturday 23 August, when the public will vote to decide the winner and runner-up. Winners will be announced on 27 August.

Judging will focus on the originality of the idea, alignment with Greenwich Market's ethos of local, fairtrade, and ethical products, and overall business potential.

“Greenwich Market has always been about celebrating unique, individual creators and supporting ethical entrepreneurship,” said Rachid Ghailane, Senior Market Operations Manager at Greenwich Market.  “This competition is an incredible way to nurture young talent and continue our mission of promoting originality and craftsmanship.”

Whether you're a novice crafter or a budding business owner, this is your chance to join a community of creative traders and gain real-world market experience.

Deadline to apply: 4 August 2025
