Historic Ashland Springs Hotel Celebrates 100 Years of Cherished Memories

Neuman Hotel Group

Ashland, Ore. - Ashland Springs Hotel, Southern Oregon's oasis of gentility and elegance, is commemorating its 100-year anniversary with several community celebrations in the coming months. To kick off the celebration, the iconic hotel will feature a special 1920s-themed float in Ashland's beloved Fourth of July Parade. It will also host a festive Centennial Soirée on Saturday, September 20, while marking the 20th anniversary of its award-winning onsite restaurant, LARKS Home Kitchen Cuisine.

In the lead-up to the Centennial Soirée, the hotel is launching a special 100-day social media series titled, “100 Days. 100 Stories. 100 Years of Heart.” Inspired by the hotel's long standing legacy and narrated in the imagined first-person voice of its “Grand Dame” persona, the series is sharing memorable guest moments, nostalgic photos, historic milestones, and community reflections each day leading up to the September celebration. Followers are invited to join the countdown on Instagram and Facebook by posting their personal photos or stories using the hashtag #DearAshlandSprings, or by sharing their memories via a form on the 100th anniversary web page

“Our centennial celebrations are a tribute to the Ashland Springs Hotel's storied past and a joyful look ahead,” said Becky Neuman, owner and creative director for Ashland Springs Hotel. “We're so proud of the hotel for being such a valued contributor to Ashland's history and community, and we look forward to welcoming guests and neighbors to celebrate this landmark occasion.”

The centennial festivities begin this summer with the hotel's participation in the Ashland Chamber's Fourth of July Parade, themed “Celebrating the Magic of Community.” As part of the celebration, the hotel will debut a custom birthday cake float in honor of the Grand Dame's 100 year birthday with a nod to its 1920s origins and iconic architectural design. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. on July 4th, at Triangle Park. The parade route goes through downtown past the Plaza to Water Street.

This September, the hotel's Centennial Soirée grand gala event will be an evening brimming with celebration and vintage charm. Guests can look forward to live entertainment, Great Gatsby-inspired touches, locally inspired food, and spirited sips served in the hotel's golden ballroom and throughout its timeless event spaces. More details will be shared in the coming months!

This year also marks the 20th anniversary of LARKS Home Kitchen Cuisine, the hotel's award-winning onsite restaurant. Guests can continue to enjoy handcrafted cocktails, mocktails, and seasonal dishes curated by Executive Chef Franco Console—all served in the hotel's historic 1920s-era bar.

Ashland Springs Hotel opened on July 1, 1925 as the Lithia Springs Hotel (also known as the Lithia Hotel), immediately becoming the most prominent building in Ashland and the most luxurious hotel between Portland and San Francisco. The hotel boasted 100 rooms influenced by gothic and beaux-arts architecture, and was renamed The Mark Antony (coined “The Mark”) in 1960. The hotel was known for its beautiful light-filled two-story lobby with a grand fireplace, spectacular terrazzo floor and a comfortable mezzanine, all of which remain today.

The hotel faithfully served its guests for more than 70 years and went through several owners and difficult phases until November 1997. The property was bought the following year by Doug and Becky Neuman who successfully restored the hotel, transforming the building to a major Ashland landmark while keeping the character and history intact.

After several years of renovations, Ashland Springs Hotel returned to its original grandeur and reopened in December 2000. The overhaul included the addition of a historic bar—crafted in 1920 and shipped to the property from San Francisco—within the hotel's restaurant, LARKS. Today, Ashland Springs Hotel is listed on the National Trust for Historic Preservation in Washington D.C., offering guests comfort, elegance, and a uniquely Ashland experience.

Ashland Springs Hotel is located at 212 E. Main St. in Ashland, Ore., in the heart of downtown Ashland. For historic images of Ashland Springs Hotel, see here and for current day photography of the hotel see here
