One of Western Sydney's most enduring and beloved institutions, Cabra-Vale Diggers, has officially marked its centenary with the unveiling of a bold new chapter: the launch of Cabravale Club Resort at a spectacular gala dinner on 16 July.
More than a milestone celebration, the event signified the culmination of a visionary redevelopment and rebrand - positioning Cabravale Club Resort as Australia's first integrated Club Resort and a landmark lifestyle destination for Western Sydney.
The gala brought together dignitaries, community leaders, media and VIP guests for an unforgettable evening of reflection, recognition and revelation, treating attendees to live entertainment, a stirring historical tribute, heartfelt speeches, and the ceremonial reveal of a time capsule - filled with memorabilia and community stories - to be opened in 2050.
In a video message shared with attendees at the Gala Dinner, NSW Premier, Chris Minns, congratulated the Club on its incredible 100 years:
“For a century now you've been a fixture of the local community from solemn dawn services to family nights out to backing local charities and community groups. You've helped people come together while giving back to the local community that supports you so congratulations on an incredible milestone. I've got no doubt there'll be many more to come.”
Established in the aftermath of the First World War by twenty returned servicemen seeking camaraderie and purpose, Cabra-Vale Diggers grew from humble beginnings in a repurposed army hut to become a cherished local institution. The Club has played a pivotal role in the social fabric of Western Sydney for generations - a place of friendship, support and shared memories.
Walter Robinson OAM, Club President, said: “From the beginning, this Club was built on the values of service, courage and community. While our name is evolving, that spirit remains at the heart of Cabravale Club Resort. 'Diggers' carries deep meaning - it honours our founders and our legacy. We're not leaving that behind; we're carrying it forward into a new era of greater opportunity, inclusion and connection”, said
As part of the evening's program, guests were also introduced to Heritage & Heart, a commemorative book capturing the Club's 100-year journey through beautifully written stories, rare photographs and heartfelt reflections. Each guest received a signed copy, anchoring the evening in legacy as well as innovation
The unveiling of Cabravale Club Resort represented the next chapter in that legacy. The redevelopment introduced a suite of new experiences and facilities, including:
- A Novotel hotel with resort-style pool and premium guest amenities
- Multiple signature dining outlets led by acclaimed culinary talent
- A fully reimagined, state-of-the-art entertainment floor
- A world-class event and conference centre for major functions and celebrations
- Enhanced communal spaces designed for relaxation, connection and celebration
The centenary also marked an evolution of the Club's community work with the launch of Cabravale Community. This new initiative builds on the proud legacy of the Club's 'Cabra Diggers Cares' program, which has contributed over $1.75 million to local causes. Under this new banner, the Club announced a headline partnerships with The Sebastian Foundation, which tackles youth mental health through its Open Parachute program and builds resilience and peer support skills in schools.
The celebration also included a 'Wishing Tree' program, granting $50,000 worth of wishes to 100 Club members to bring joy to the community.
Vicki Le, Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Rebranding to Cabravale Club Resort is more than a name change - it's a bold step forward. As Western Sydney grows into a major hub for tourism and culture, we're redefining what a modern club can be. This new identity reflects our ambition to lead and welcome, while staying true to our community roots. We're also proud to launch a new charity partnership as part of this next chapter - ensuring our growth gives back to the region that has shaped us.”
The evening concluded with a charity auction supporting the Club's new community partners, followed by a powerful closing address from CEO Boris Belevski. His final message captured the spirit of the celebration, promising that Cabravale Club Resort will carry its community spirit forward - with pride, purpose, and hospitality at its core:
“This anniversary wasn't just about marking the passage of time, it was about celebrating the incredible journey we've shared as a community, and unveiling a future filled with bold ambition, world-class experiences and deep-rooted connection”.
Cabravale Club Resort is now open to members, guests and the wider public, offering a slightly limited experience during this transitional phase as final touches are completed. The full vision will be revealed at the official Grand Opening later this year - marking the beginning of a vibrant new era of entertainment, connection and celebration in the heart of Western Sydney.
