Chef Maksut Aşkar to Star at National Geographic Traveller Food Festival
One of Türkiye's most celebrated culinary talents, Chef Maksut Aşkar, is set to take the stage at this year's National Geographic Traveller (UK) Food Festival, taking place at London's Business Design Centre on 19–20 July 2025.
Known for his modern interpretation of Anatolian cuisine and commitment to sustainability, Aşkar will lead two exclusive masterclasses at the festival's Saffron Theatre. As the creative force behind Istanbul's Michelin-starred and Michelin Green Star restaurant Neolokal, he has redefined Turkish fine dining by blending tradition with bold, contemporary techniques.

Aşkar's appearance at the festival offers UK audiences a rare opportunity to explore Türkiye's vibrant food culture through the lens of one of its most innovative chefs. His masterclasses will showcase ingredients, techniques, and stories rooted in Türkiye's culinary heritage all reimagined for today's conscious and curious food lovers.
At his restaurant in Istanbul Neolokal, Aşkar champions sustainability through local sourcing, zero waste practices, and a deep respect for ancestral cooking methods.
