It's not just the stunning waterfalls that draw people from around the globe to Foz do Iguassu Falls, in Parana State, Brazil. Throughout the year, the city hosts a diverse lineup of open-to-the-public festivals that blend nature, culture, and gastronomy—attracting even more visitors to this iconic tri-border destination.
In the first half of the year, Iguassu brought three major events to the public: Carnaval, featuring performances by national artists and lively street parades; the Fartal Food Fair, held from June 7–9; and the well-established FIT Cataratas (International Tourism Festival of the Falls), which welcomed over 12,000 attendees for its 20th edition from June 4–6.
The Iguassu Handicraft and Food Fair (Fartal) is a beloved tradition spanning generations. The 45th edition, hosted at CTG Charrua, was a true celebration of tradition and innovation. With free admission and an expanded setup, the event paid tribute to the city's 111th anniversary by bringing together gastronomy, crafts, and major live performances.
More than 20 artists took the stage, including the duo Guilherme & Benuto, the sertanejo group Traia Veia, and local singer Gabriel Smaniotto. The food area featured food trucks and restaurants offering a wide variety of dishes—from shawarma and crepes to barbecue skewers—while the craft fair showcased unique handmade items. The CTG Charrua parking lot became a space for solidarity: managed by the Municipal Guard Association, all proceeds from the three-day event will support the organization's social projects.
Meanwhile, FIT Cataratas (formerly the Festival of the Falls) reaffirmed Iguassu's role as a hub of tourism and innovation. The trade show brought together more than 1,300 exhibitors and over 250 booths, filling the corridors of Rafain Palace Hotel & Convention Center with business meetings, cultural performances, interactive experiences, and panel discussions ranging from sustainable tourism to industry innovation.
While most activities targeted travel professionals, visitors were also able to join panels on sustainability, responsible tourism, and cultural diversity, along with free workshops like “Harmony in a Glass – Wine & Life” and sessions on innovation, tourism, and business. The next FIT Cataratas is scheduled for June 10–12, 2026.
