Vietnam Airlines is set to launch the first-ever direct flight connecting Vietnam and Denmark, with a nonstop service between Ho Chi Minh City and Copenhagen commencing on 15 December 2025. This marks the only nonstop route currently available between the two countries, representing a significant milestone in Vietnam Airlines' international expansion strategy and establishing a vital air bridge between Southeast Asia and Northern Europe.
The Ho Chi Minh City – Copenhagen route will operate three times per week using the modern, wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, offering passengers a comfortable and seamless travel experience. Flights will depart Ho Chi Minh City at 22:45 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while return flights from Copenhagen will depart at 10:50 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
With flexible scheduling and convenient connectivity, Vietnam Airlines expects the new route to effectively serve demand for travel, tourism, family visits, and business between the two regions — particularly benefiting the Vietnamese diaspora of over 70,000 living in Northern Europe.
Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, stated, “Launching direct service from Ho Chi Minh City to Copenhagen marks another key step in our European expansion strategy, especially into the promising Nordic market. This is not only an opportunity to deepen our global connectivity, but also a strong commitment to bringing Vietnam closer to the world.”
Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, is known as one of Europe's most livable cities and serves as a leading hub for culture, economy, green innovation, and tourism in the region. It is also Northern Europe's largest air transit hub and the main hub for Scandinavian Airlines, a fellow member of the SkyTeam alliance. This enables seamless onward connections to neighbouring countries such as Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
Passengers on the inaugural flight from Copenhagen to Ho Chi Minh City (VN38) can enjoy special round-trip fares from just 5,803 DKK or 754 EUR (approx. GBP 627) (including taxes and fees) when booking by 31 August 2025.
For departures between 16 December 2025 and 31 March 2026, with tickets booked by September 2025, round-trip Economy Class fares start from 6,403 DKK or 832 EUR (approx. GBP708), while Business Class fares start from 22,134 DKK or 2,877 EUR (approx. GBP2,451) — all inclusive of taxes and fees.
During the first three months of operation, passengers will enjoy a 30 per cent discount on ancillary services such as prepaid baggage, seat selection, and service class upgrades. In addition, Vietnam Airlines is offering complimentary tier upgrades, free membership cards, and bonus miles for Lotusmiles members, depending on the travel class.
The launch of the Ho Chi Minh City – Copenhagen service not only provides passengers with a new and convenient travel option but also reinforces Vietnam Airlines' role as a pioneering force in connecting Vietnam to the world. This strategic move strengthens the airline's footprint in Northern Europe — a high-potential market with year-round travel demand—while further elevating the global standing of Vietnam's national flag carrier.
In 2025, Vietnam Airlines plans to launch and resume 15 international routes to key markets including Italy, Russia, China, the UAE, Japan, South Korea, and India. These services are designed to boost economic and tourism ties, promote the image of Vietnam abroad, and help realise the country's goal of welcoming 22 to 23 million international visitors.
