Families looking to beat the summer holiday rush can take advantage of Wightlink's extended Kids Go Free offer this June – with four bonus weekends just added to the ferry company's already-popular deal.
From 14 June to 6 July, up to two children aged 5–15 can travel to the Isle of Wight for free every Saturday and Sunday with an adult or senior foot passenger day return ticket. That's before the schools even break up, making it perfect for a crowd-free, great-value family day out.
This offer builds on Wightlink's existing Kids Go Free deal, which returns for the full school summer holidays, every day from 12 July to 7 September.
But why go now? Early summer is a great time to visit the Island – warm weather, blooming countryside and quieter hotspots make it one of the best times to enjoy a bit of Island paradise. Here are four reasons to sail across before the summer rush:
- Days out without the bustle – experience the golden sands of Ryde, Sandown or Compton without fighting for space. Enjoy quieter roads, shorter queues at attractions and the best table at that family-friendly pub; June weekends are ideal for families who like things a little more relaxed.
- The newest family attractions - visit Wildheart Animal Sanctuary's new bear brothers, Benji and Balu, or explore more than 35 rides and attractions at the newly re-opened Robin Hill.
- Celebrate the Island's unique culture with these fantastic events:
- Isle of Wight Biosphere Festival (across the Island, 28-29 June and 5-6 July)
- Armed Forces Day (Ryde, 28 June).
- Wight Wheels Charity Classic Car and Bike Show (Chale, 29 June)
- Isle of Wight Steam Railway 1940s experience (Havenstreet, 5-6 July)
