26th December, London: New research from leading travel provider, Luxury Escapes has revealed that most Brits (88%) are planning to go on holiday next year, but cost is a key driving factor in what this looks like.

Six in ten (62%) are hoping to explore somewhere new, spend quality time with family (32%) or visit a country on their bucket list (26%), with the top destinations on people's hit lists revealed as Spain, the USA and Italy.

But Brits' strong desire to experience new things isn't the only factor dictating their travel plans. Value for money is a top concern for 23% of people, with 55% agreeing that cost-of-living pressures have, or will, impact their plans.

Half say they will spend less in 2025 on travel than this year, with the average holiday anticipated to cost £2,282 in Europe and £3,584 further afield.

Nearly a third of people (31%) say the cost of flights is the most important factor to consider when planning a holiday, followed by the price of accommodation (25%) – as data shows most Brits (63%) have already factored a holiday into their budget to offset costs.

Evidently a nation of planners, over half of Brits (57%) say that booking well in advance is the key to affording a holiday next year, along with purchasing insurance (44%) and saving for unexpected costs (40%).

To aid this, more than two in five people (43%) are considering booking a package holiday in 2025 or are on the lookout for holiday offers containing the most inclusions (39%) such as fine dining or a buffet breakfast.

This new research could indicate that luxury travel experiences are 'the new lipstick', with 41% of Brits saying that taking a holiday or a weekend getaway is the best way to treat yourself amid increasing cost of living pressures – compared to having a spa treatment (19%) or purchasing designer products (14%)

Instead, people would prefer to take part in unique travel experiences such as visiting one of the seven Natural Wonders of the World (31%), scuba diving or snorkelling (29%) or bungee jumping (27%).

Meanwhile, Experiential Travel (30%), Food Tourism (28%) and Wellness Travel (27%) have been revealed as the top three travel trends Brits are eager to try in 2025, followed by a growing interest in multi-generational travel from over a quarter of people (26%).

To help Brits take the holiday of their dreams, Luxury Escapes will be launching its 'Best Of 2024' sale on Boxing Day. With unmissable savings of up to 75% off, savvy shoppers can look forward to deals on luxury hotels with inclusions across Europe, the USA and Asia.
