Cayman Islands Director of Tourism Honoured as Director of the Year by Caribbean Tourism Organisation

The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism

Director of Tourism, Rosa Harris was recently awarded the Director of Tourism of the Year award at the annual Women in Caribbean Tourism Awards, part of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation's (CTO) Caribbean Week taking place from 1-5 June at the Westin New York Times Square in New York.

The Women in Caribbean Tourism Awards recognises the crucial contributions of women in tourism across the Caribbean region and beyond.

Director Harris' award was voted on by a jury of her fellow Directors of Tourism and is in recognition of her invaluable contributions to Caribbean tourism in her role as the immediate past Chairman of the CTO Board of Directors. During her Chairmanship, Director Harris was instrumental in championing women in tourism and placing female leadership at the forefront of the organisation with the hiring of the first ever female Secretary General of the CTO Donna Regis-Prosper. She also led the visionary transformation of the CTO through its 'Reimagine' initiative.

Serving as Director of Tourism for the past 12 years, Director Harris has played a pivotal role in shaping the Cayman Islands' global tourism strategy. Under her leadership, the Cayman Islands achieved its best-ever year for stayover arrivals in 2019, a milestone that underscored her ability to innovate and elevate the destination's appeal to travellers worldwide.

The global CIDOT team extends our congratulations to Director Harris on this important recognition.
