Ferry operator DFDS will feature in a brand-new Channel 4 documentary series titled Dover 24/7: Britain's Busiest Port, which will premiere on Monday 2 June 2025 at 8pm.
The six-part series, produced by ITN Productions for Channel 4, takes viewers behind-the- scenes with the ferry operator and looks at the daily operations at the Port of Dover, Europe's busiest passenger port. Filmed over the summer of 2024, the documentary follows frontline staff at DFDS as they work around the clock to move freight and holidaymakers across the Channel, ensuring reliable, flexible and memorable journeys 24-hours-a-day, 365 days per year.
Gauvain Haulot, vice president and route director for the Channel at DFDS, said: “The new documentary series Dover 24/7 showcases the dedication and professionalism of the teams onboard our ships and at our ports on the Channel routes. This series offers a rare look behind the scenes at the highly experienced UK seafarers and skilled port staff who keep people and traffic flowing across the Channel, day and night. We're incredibly proud of our teams and delighted that their work is going to be featured on national television, giving viewers a chance to see just how much effort, expertise and passion goes into making their summer break as hassle-free and memorable as possible.”
Simon Lee, commissioning executive at Channel 4, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to see first-hand the integral, complex, and highly skilled workings of this bastion of all ports. I am certain that viewers will be captivated by the challenges the staff face as they ensure this vital transport hub is kept open for business 24 hours a day.”
Richard Christian, head of corporate affairs at the Port of Dover, said: “Following several years of discussion regarding a potential TV series to showcase the diversity and scale of activity at the Port of Dover to a national audience, we're incredibly proud to have partnered with ITN Productions. Being our busiest time since before the pandemic and one when we are preparing for future challenges and opportunities, it seemed like the perfect time to show the nation the full extent of what we do, so we are thrilled that Channel 4 agreed to come and take a look in Britain's busiest port.”
The first hour-long episode of the series will air at 8pm on Monday 2 June on Channel 4.
