Yokohama, Japan's second largest city will soon be home to two new OMO facilities. Under its fast-growing brand of urban tourism hotels with 16 locations across Japan, Hoshino Resorts is set to open both OMO5 Yokohama Bashamichi by Hoshino Resorts and OMO7 Yokohama by Hoshino Resorts by mid 2026.
The brand's concept of 'Get down with the local rhythm' encourages guests to live like a local by discovering lesser-known attractions and culinary delights through the hotel's Go-KINJO MAP of hidden gems and specialised guided tours of the surrounding neighbourhood.
OMO's numbering also helps travellers to find an option befitting their travel goals and budget as it details the capacity of services in its name, from 1 for capsule hotels to 7 for full-service hotels.
Since its opening to the world in 1859, Yokohama is a picturesque port city where Japanese and international cultures met and flourished. Even today, it is admired for its exotic charm in areas like Yokohama Chinatown and for its Western-style buildings constructed from the Meiji to Taisho eras.
One of Yokohama's unique appeals is that it offers both postwar entertainment districts and modern tourist attractions. The Noge and Isezaki-cho areas feature many long-loved restaurants and bars where locals, known as Hamakkos, have always gathered.
The recently redeveloped Bay Area and the Yokohama Stadium are classic attractions visited by many. The two new OMO facilities will be near such areas, and by utilising both properties, guests will be able to fully experience everything Yokohama has to offer.
The OMO hotel's go-KINJO Service includes a large neighbourhood map compiled by hotel staff known as 'OMO Rangers,' who are experts on the local area. It gathers information on restaurants and sightseeing spots all within walking distance from the hotel.
Furthermore, the OMO Base is the hotel's public space where guests can research recommended spots before heading out, take a break during their explorations, and enjoy a playful environment designed to make their walks through the city even more enjoyable.

Scheduled to open in the Japanese winter of 2025–26, OMO5 Yokohama Bashamichi will occupy floors 46 to 51 of a high-rise mixed-use building directly connected to Bashamichi Station with 360-degree view of the Bay Area, including Minatomirai, the Bay Bridge, and the Yokohama cityscape.

Each room is equipped with a washer-dryer and a kitchen, making it ideal for extended stays. Features and Facility Overview of OMO7 Yokohama by Hoshino Resorts
Scheduled to open in the Japanese spring of 2026, OMO7 Yokohama is part of a large redevelopment project called “BASEGATE Yokohama Kannai,” which will transform the former Yokohama City Hall site located in front of JR Kannai Station.
The project's theme is "fusion of the old and new," where the former City Hall's administrative building will be preserved and repurposed to pass on Yokohama's cultural heritage. It will establish a prestigious hub for entertainment and innovation whilst preserving the familiar landscape of the former city hall that was cherished by citizens.
The former Yokohama City Hall, designed by Togo Murano, a leading architect of the Showa era who supported the development of modern architecture in Japan, will be repurposed as a 'legacy hotel'.
Incorporating and reinterpreting elements of the former City Hall's architecture, OMO7 Yokohama is categorised as 'OMO7' and will therefore operate as a full-service hotel designed to be a city landmark, complete with extensive amenities including restaurants and special facilities.
Reservations are expected to open from October 2025 where the guest rooms and public areas will showcase the connection to its historical design through the colours of the tiles, furniture, and carpets that were used inside the old city hall.
An exhibition related to architecture is also planned so that guests can learn the history of how the building was cherished in the past and trace the developments of Yokohama.
In supporting OMO's brand concept, OMO7 Yokohama will offer suggestions for exploring the attractions of the newly redeveloped Kannai Station area, as well as Yokohama Chinatown, Noge, and the Isezakicho area.
