Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff Johannesburg is poised to redefine luxury hospitality with the upcoming debut of two extraordinary new spaces: the Grand Ballroom, opening in August 2025, and the Destination Lobby and Lounge, launching in September 2025. These landmark additions mark a bold new chapter for the hotel, reinforcing its status as Johannesburg's premier destination for world-class events, refined leisure, and elevated guest experiences.
“We are thrilled to introduce these transformative spaces to our guests and the broader Johannesburg community soon,” says Martin Cody, Regional Vice President and General Manager. “The Grand Ballroom and Destination Lobby represents the culmination of a USD 25 million investment and our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence. These additions will set a new benchmark for luxury and versatility in the region.”
The Grand Ballroom: A New Standard for Signature Events
Opening its doors in August 2025, the Grand Ballroom will be Johannesburg's largest luxury event venue, accommodating up to 400 guests for gala dinners and large-scale celebrations.
Furthermore, its versatile design can accommodate everything from lavish weddings and corporate conferences to exclusive exhibitions and elegant receptions. The space offers panoramic views of the city's iconic urban forest and skyline, which is an unforgettable backdrop for any occasion.
Complementing the hotel's existing 12 private event venues (ranging from intimate gatherings of 4 to 130 guests), the Grand Ballroom enhances the hotel's reputation as the city's most versatile and sought-after events destination, complete with ample parking and seamless service.
The Destination Lobby: A Grand Welcome Reimagined
In September 2025, guests will be welcomed into the hotel's newly reimagined Destination Lobby, a voluminous, light-filled space offering sweeping views from the third floor over Forest Town, Saxonwold, and Rosebank.
Whether arriving for a luxurious stay, dining at the iconic Flames restaurant, or indulging in the Four Seasons Spa, guests will enjoy a dramatically enhanced arrival experience, supported by a new multi-level parking facility and improved flow between the hotel's key outlets.
The lobby will also introduce the Lobby Lounge and Bar, a stylish 40-seat dining and social space open to both hotel guests and local visitors. With all-day dining and a vibrant bar scene, it promises to become a new favourite for casual elegance and sophisticated gatherings.
Design Inspired by Heritage, Crafted for the Future
The architectural and interior design of both new spaces draws inspiration from Johannesburg's rich mining legacy, incorporating metallic accents, natural stone, and textured finishes that reflect the city's unique character while embracing contemporary luxury.
A Decade of Excellence, A Future of Innovation
These developments are part of a broader USD 25 million (ZAR 450 million) transformation led by the hotel's ownership, ASB Hospitality, over the past 18 months. As the hotel celebrated ten years of excellence in March 2025, it continues to look ahead committed to innovation, sustainability, and creating unforgettable moments for every guest.
The evolution extends to Flames, the hotel's signature restaurant, which is undergoing a thoughtful refurbishment. And under the leadership of Chef d' Cuisine Avuyile Fumba, a bold new culinary direction is taking shape, one that honours local flavours while embracing global sophistication.
“As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we remain dedicated to setting new standards in luxury hospitality,” adds Cody. “Most of all, we look forward to welcoming guests to experience these magnificent new spaces and the warm, genuine service that defines Four Seasons.”
