This April, Kittawa Lodge, the exclusive off-grid accommodation on King Island, Tasmania, opens its new two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat, offering guests an unparalleled escape where rugged wilderness meets refined luxury. Kittawa Retreat
The new two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat has been designed for shared escapes without compromising on privacy, expanding Kittawa Lodge's offering to family and friend groups, or couples who simply want to enjoy the extra space.The Kittawa Retreat offers the same refined luxury as the two existing one-bedroom Lodges and amplifies the guest experience with additional features, including:
- Secluded outdoor seating area and hot tub –with panoramic ocean views, creating the perfect setting for relaxation under the vast island skies
- Private cellar – stocked with an extensive selection of fine wines, and spirits, a library and games
- Versatile luxury accommodation – ideal for two couples, friend groups or families, as well as discerning travellers seeking the ultimate in space and exclusivity, the Kittawa Retreat offers flexible luxury. Each bedroom features a king-sized bed and seating area, with the option to convert the second bedroom into twin singles if required
- Tailored, bespoke experiences – including private four-course dinners, guided yoga and meditation sessions, and indulgent massages

Set on 96 acres of untouched coastal landscape, Kittawa Lodge invites guests to experience the wild beauty of King Island – located between Tasmania and mainland Australia – offering dramatic seascapes to windswept dunes. The new Kittawa Retreat adds to the already two one-bedroom Lodges on the property, which have been architecturally designed to maximise natural light and a connection to the outdoors, whilst still offering complete privacy. With a deep commitment to sustainability, Kittawa Lodge operates off-grid while maintaining a sense of effortless indulgence — luxury here is about simplicity, authenticity, and tranquility.
Inside, each lodge features floor-to-ceiling windows, framing breathtaking coastal views, and bespoke interiors, hand-crafted furniture, premium Cultiver linens, and a designer European wood-burning fireplace. Bathrooms are fitted with rain showers and deep soaking tubs, and a fully equipped designer kitchen allows guests to enjoy the finest King Island produce in their own space, at their own pace.
Kittawa Lodge Guest Chef Series
July/August will see the return of Kittawa Lodge's 'Guest Chef Series' – unforgettable three-night culinary escapes, which each blend luxury, adventure, and world-class dining in the heart of Tasmania's wild beauty. Hosted by one of Australia's best chefs - Rosheen Kaul (former Head Chef of Etta and award-winning author) the two three-night packages are available for up to eight guests at a time, perfect for one group of friends, a family or separate parties taking up each of the three accommodations.
Guests will indulge in a menu curated by Kaul and Nairn showcasing King Island's premium local produce. Guests will enjoy daily breakfasts, gourmet picnics and intimate dinners in each guest's private lodge, paired with premium Tasmanian wines. Signature Kittawa Lodge snacks will be available as well as a curated selection of local wines, cocktails, and spirits, and an AWD vehicle for island exploration complete this exclusive experience.

Kittawa Retreat
The new two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat is priced from $2,350 per night for two guests, inclusive of premium breakfast provisions, lunches, dinner provisions, and snacks, with additional guests at $350 per person per night. A minimum two-night stay applies.
Kittawa Retreat is fully accessible, with one bedroom and bathroom allowing guests with accessibility requirements the opportunity to indulge in luxurious surroundings with comfort and confidence.

Kittawa Lodge's Guest Chef Series Package includes:

- Nightly dinners, by each chef in your lodge, together with paired premium Tasmanian wines
- Selection of premium Tasmanian wines, pre-mixed cocktails, spirits, beers and ciders

- One couple for $11,650 (in a one-bedroom Lodge)
- Two couples for $10,975 per couple (in the two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat)
- Three couples for $8,870 per couple (two couples in the two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat and one couple in a one-bedroom Lodge)
- Four couples for $8,650 per couple (two couples in the two-bedroom Kittawa Retreat and one couple in each of the one-bedroom Lodges)
- Kittawa Retreat can accommodate both one couple and one or two singles
Additional package inclusion options:
- 60-minute in-lodge treatments, whether that be relaxation or remedial massages, or guided yoga and meditation sessions
- Guided Southern Expedition, taking in the sights of the South of King Island
- Off-selection ultra-premium Tasmanian wines are available for purchase

For groups of three to four couples, dinners will be held in the Kittawa Retreat, amplifying the shared experience.

Less than a 45-minute flight from Melbourne, King Island is serviced by up to twice daily flights from:

- Essendon Fields Airport with Sharp Airlines
- Moorabbin Airport with King Island Airlines
Flights also operate up to three times daily to King Island from mainland Tasmania, from both Launceston and Burnie (Wynyard).
