No. 79 Bar & Terrace by Hospitality Impresario Nur Khan Opens on the Lower East Side with Cocktails by Global Mixologist Extraordinaire Charlotte Voisey

NEW YORK, May 8, 2025—No. 79 Bar & Terrace, a new bar by hospitality impresario Nur Khan, opens its doors on the Lower East Side. Located at street level at 79 Rivington St., the bar serves libations by globally renowned mixologist Charlotte Voisey that bring a creative downtown edge to classic cocktails like the Martini, Daiquiri, Old Fashioned and Spritz, complemented by playful bar snacks by Executive Chef Chris Skoda.
No. 79, which exudes retro French sophistication, accommodates 23 guests at its horseshoe-shaped bar, with 50 guests at banquette seating. The bar features hydraulic hangar doors that open to bring in the Lower East Side's street vibe and energy, as well as an airy second-floor terrace with sweeping views of Downtown Manhattan and beyond.
A Hospitality Impresario & Pioneer of Lower East Side Cool
Khan is a hospitality impresario and the creator of Two Fifteen at PUBLIC and Butterfly Soho. He masterminded New York City's first-ever Ultra-VIP lounge, Wax, and his iconic work includes the A-list celebrity magnet Rose Bar and the legendary Sway, Hiro Ballroom and Kenmare. Khan became an owner of Don Hill's and revitalized the rock 'n roll shrine, launched Electric Room at the Dream Downtown and was the Creative Director of TAO Downtown Lounge.
Khan, who has resided on the Lower East Side for decades, has partnered with Morry Kalimian of Kalimian Equities, which owns the building, to bring his vision for No. 79 Bar & Terrace to life.
“We are excited to open No. 79 Bar & Terrace, which brings an elevated sensibility while maintaining a downtown edge,” says Khan. “Charlotte Voisey has dialed in classic cocktails that she has elevated in subtle, surprisingly delicious ways. I'm also proud that we will be serving the Smoke Show, a creation of mine. The wrap-around bar fosters conviviality and the outdoor terrace is perfect for taking in New York City's incomparable skyline. We are delighted to work with Executive Chef Chris Skoda, formerly of Sartiano's, who is creating our culinary program.”
A Global Mixological Collaborator
Voisey is a long-time collaborator with Khan and has worked as an acclaimed bartender and ace cocktail consultant in her native London, Barcelona, Buenos Aires and New York. She is currently Executive Director of Tales of the Cocktail Foundation and was Global Head of Ambassadors for William Grant & Sons. Voisey earned U.K. Bartender of the Year and Wine Enthusiast's Mixologist of the Year.
“The cocktails at No. 79 are designed to be delicious and refreshing, with options for the afternoon that flow into the night,” says Voisey. “Our launch menu skews towards Spring/Summer with choices that are elegant, food-friendly and varied in flavor combinations to cater to all tastes.”

Playful Bar Snacks by Executive Chef Chris Skoda
The bar snack program is now being developed by Executive Chef Chris Skoda, formerly of Sartiano's, Bâtard and Balaboosta. It will feature timeless New York City classics made to share that Executive Chef Skoda whimsically reinterprets through a high-low lens. They will evoke a sense of familiarity, but match the sophistication of the setting. Dishes to include elevated Chicken Nuggets, Natural Beef Hot Dogs with Fixin's, Skewered Snacks and more.
Interior Blurring Indoors & Outdoors, Adorned with Evocative Photography
The bar's interior was designed by Craig Shillitto of Cycle Projects, whose clients include Chef Dan Kluger's Loring Place, Chef Missy Robbins' Lilia, Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's ABC Kitchen and Jim Lahey's Sullivan Street Bakery. Its open concept design features custom hangar-style garage doors that blur the line between indoors and out, incorporating the Lower East Side's vibrant street life into the atmosphere. The retro chic décor is electrified by sensuous black-and-white photographs by Sante D'Orazio, the iconic fashion and celebrity photographer.
A High-Energy Playlist
No. 79 Bar & Terrace's elevated playlist was personally curated by Khan, who pays homage to the Lower East Side and New York City by incorporating both classic and contemporary artists. Its genres include Electro, Electro Pop, Indie, Indie Sleaze, Rock, Dance/Electronic with touches of New Wave. The sound system, designed by Shane DuShane of NY Wiring Company, features high-performance K-array speakers renowned for their sleek and discreet design.
