Coral Expeditions expert Australian crew and guides will offer guests onboard an unforgettable adventure as the Coral Adventurer follows the nation’s ever-changing coastline on an itinerary that features forty-eight excursion days and a chance to enjoy life-changing natural encounters, meet the locals and discover their stories, and enjoy a first-hand experience of the extraordinary places along the route.
Three signature special events spanning food, wine and culture are a highlight on this, the cruise line’s second Australian circumnavigation, including a cultural festival in the Torres Strait Islands, a winemaker’s lunch at the beautiful Leeuwin Estate in Western Australia’s Margaret River and the chance to take a charter flight to an outback homestead in Queensland for lunch.
In the remote and pristine group of islands in the Torres Strait – also known as Zenadh Kes – guests onboard will have the unforgettable chance to enjoy a feast and cultural festival with the community on Thursday Island. Expeditioners will discover the island’s rich heritage on a personally guided tour, taking in the Japanese Pearling Memorial and the monument honouring Bernard Namok Senior, designer of the Torres Strait Islands Flag. Local elders will share their stories and traditions and include guests in a vibrant cultural festival.
Further along the journey, in Western Australia’s world-renowned wine region of Margaret River guests will enjoy a four-course lunch hosted by Leeuwin Estate winemaker Paul Atwood. There, the culinary team will present a local ingredients led menu designed to complement the legendary “Art Series” wine range.
Looping back up the coast to Queensland, guests will board a private charter flight from Townsville for an awesome day in the outback. Arriving at the remote town of Longreach, some 1,180 kilometres northwest of Brisbane, guests can explore Machinery Mile and the local town before enjoying a lively pub lunch at the historic Wellshot Hotel. As the sun sets, outback legend Alan “Smithy” Smith welcomes everyone to his homestead at Rosebank Station for a tour, entertainment, sundowners and a fireside cook up. The group then flies back to Coral Adventurer in the evening in time for a late supper onboard and a leisurely sleep-in the next day.
Coral Expeditions Chief Commercial Officer Jeff Gillies said the circumnavigation of Australia was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for travellers to discover an expansive list of Australia’s legendary destinations by sea.
“This incredible journey on Coral Adventurer really delivers guests to some of Australia’s most remote, beautiful and fascinating places, each with a chance for a personal discovery of the people, places and cultural heritage that make our island nation so extraordinary,” Mr Gillies said.
“With some availability still remaining for the circumnavigation, now’s the time to jump on board to reserve your place on this history-making journey,” he said.
