SeaLink South Australia (SeaLink) is delighted to announce its continued sponsorship of the Kangaroo Island Marathon for a further two years, an event it has proudly supported for the past decade. This iconic marathon, renowned for its stunning course through Flinders Chase National Park, has recently been acquired by Marathon Tours & Travel, a leading international travel agency specialising in marathon events.

The 2025 KI Marathon, set for 24 August, is designed to highlight the stunning landscapes of Kangaroo Island, the event is expected to attract around 350 runners and 200 spectators from across Australia and around the world.

As part of its commitment, SeaLink is providing transport for Marathon staff and vehicles to and from the Island, and discounts for Marathon participants and attendees. This support ensures seamless access to Kangaroo Island for runners, organisers, and spectators alike, enhancing the experience of this iconic event

SeaLink is also proud to support Marathon Tours & Travel in delivering tailored travel packages for domestic and international participants, with bookings available via the Marathon Tours & Travel website, which include:

  • 3-night packages for travellers to experience the event and the island
  • 7-night packages for visitors to explore more of South Australia, including three nights on Kangaroo Island
  • Flexible self-drive itineraries, offering travellers the option to customise their stay.

Participants can choose from three challenging race distances:

  • Marathon (42.2 km): A challenging course winding through Flinders Chase National Park, featuring undulating roads, coastal views, and iconic landmarks such as Remarkable Rocks.
  • Half Marathon (21.1 km): Starting at Remarkable Rocks, this race allows runners to experience a shorter but equally breathtaking journey through the park’s diverse landscapes.
  • 10K (10 km): Ideal for runners seeking a less demanding yet scenic challenge within the national park.

Tracy Croft, General Manager for SeaLink South Australia, expressed her excitement for the event: “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Kangaroo Island Marathon as it enters this exciting new chapter with Marathon Tours & Travel. This event not only highlights the island’s spectacular natural beauty but also connects a global community of adventure runners and visitors to this stunning destination.”

Jeff Adams, President of Marathon Tours & Travel, added, “We are excited to deliver such a special event to our clients. The Kangaroo Island Marathon offers a truly unique experience, with its varied terrain and stunning scenery, making it ideal for runners looking for their next big challenge.”

The marathon is not just a celebration of sport; it’s also a significant economic and cultural event for Kangaroo Island. This year, the event is expected to contribute more than $100,000 directly to local businesses across the island, with visitors staying between 3–10 days and supporting accommodation, restaurants, retail outlets, and tourist attractions.

Marathon Tours & Travel is also working to create additional activations across the island in the days leading up to and following the event. These include a post-race party, a redeveloped race precinct to involve local businesses and sporting clubs, locally produced merchandise, and initiatives aimed at giving back to the Flinders Chase National Park, where the event is hosted.

SeaLink is proud to support this incredible marathon and showcase the natural beauty of Kangaroo Island.
