Adventures By Train (www.adventuresbytrain.com) is a new tour operator specialising in extraordinary rail journeys, born of a team with many years' experience within the travel and rail sectors.
The company's flagship tour Around the World by Train in 100 days, is now open for bookings. The first departure, on 17 March 2026, is available for up to 12 passengers. Blending the finest first-class train travel with luxury hotel stays and memorable sea voyages, the journey begins in London and travels eastwards through Europe, Asia and into North America. The 14 countries visited are France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Canada and the USA.
Experience some of the world's most thrilling rail journeys, from Swiss and Austrian panoramic landscapes to overnight sleeper trains through central Asia, plus China's high-speed rail network to Xian, Japan's 'Shinkansen' bullet train and the California Zephyr Amtrak route through the USA's Rocky Mountains and Great Plains.
A wide range of cultural experiences is included within the 100-day itinerary. These include front-row seats at a classical music concert in Vienna, a Turkish marbling workshop, a wine tasting in Georgia's Kakheti region and a walking tour of UNESCO-protected Khiva, the city of a thousand minarets, in Uzbekistan. Street food tours in Tashkent and Kyoto, a Uyghur singing and dancing experience in Urumqi, China; a visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and a private viewing at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York are also included. There is a seaplane journey over Vancouver and Howe Sound, bookings at Michelin-starred restaurants, tours of major historic landmarks such as China's Terracotta Warriors, Istanbul's Hagia Sophia mosque and the Gobustan rock carvings in Azerbaijan, plus scenery galore - glaciers, national parks, mountain ranges, canyons and valleys.
Two luxury sea voyages are incorporated into Adventures By Train's Around the World by Train in 100 days tour. The first is a 23-day North Pacific Passage Luxury Cruise aboard the Viking Venus, sailing from Tokyo to Vancouver, taking in Sapporo, Alaska and Kodiak Island. The second voyage completes the 100-day trip and is a seven-night Atlantic crossing aboard the elegant Queen Mary 2 from New York City to Southampton. There are also two other sea crossings - a 24-30-hour journey by Caspian Sea Ferry from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan and an overnight ferry from Shanghai to Osaka, both with private cabins allocated.
With the exception of a few remote locations, the hotels selected for this journey are of five-star calibre. They include the Pera Palace in Istanbul - famous as the place where Agatha Christie wrote her novel 'Murder on the Orient Express' - plus The Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, Shangri-La in Vancouver and The Langham New York Fifth Avenue.
Adventures By Train recommends that guests travel light, as most rail operators do not provide a checked luggage service - with the exception of the trains used in North America – so bags need to be suitable for overhead racks. To help minimise luggage, the company will cover the cost of laundry services at hotels by allocating $100 per person per hotel stay.
Jim Louth, Director, Adventures By Train, comments: “The launch of Adventures By Train is the result of many years spent fine-tuning the very best rail journeys globally. Our new Around the World in 100 days trip provides the perfect mix of world-class rail travel with hand-picked immersive experiences in optimum comfort. With a departure date of 17 March 2026, and just 12 spaces available, we are already seeing unprecedented demand.”
