Croatian Sights Just Over Two-Hour Flight Away
Uncover a treasure trove of Croatian hideaways on new, returning and extended routes from Croatia Airlines, easyJet, Ryanair and more
London, 25 March 2025 – Sprint into Croatian spring, taste and take in the coastal and continental landscapes hidden in plain sight, available for a fly-visit or longer stay two and a half hours from the UK. Authentic experiences, lovingly merged with warm hospitality and hidden beauty across the Croatian islands, Šibenik, Gorski Kotar, Slavonia and Zagorje are accessible on direct short-haul flights over seven Croatian airports.
Fly and flop with the Croatian Airlines on three-weekly year-round flights from London Heathrow to Zagreb spotlighting Croatian Zagorje, one of country's cultural frontlines. Short commute from the Croatian capital, rolling hills, rejuvenating thermal springs, and majestic medieval castles are an ideal backdrop to joys of time-travel in Trakošćan, offering a newly launched 'escape room', bringing storied history of the castle back to life.
Vibrant cultural tapestry also comes to the fore in Gorski Kotar, 20-minute drive from Rijeka airport connected with low-cost carrier Ryanair offering less than £50 return from Stanstead in June. Aside the region's lush and unspoilt nature where the rarest encounters with a lynx are the norm, visitors may also enjoy pure magic and unparalleled stay in Stara Sušica castle, titled as the Croatian “Hogwarts”.
Another direct Ryanair flight returns with twice weekly connections from 2 April on route from London Stanstead to Osijek worthy off a burgeoning break ordained with the venerable vineyards and versatile nature. Easternmost Croatian region Slavonia has fertile plains, rich traditions, and warm-hearted locals galore, where affordable delicacies like čobanac and fiš paprikaš, alongside exceptional wines from the region's vineyards are on a daily menu. Most recently, Osijek received the longest river promenade in this part of Europe, a total length of 10 and a half kilometres along the Drava River, now connecting all parts of the city. This is also a gob-smacking gateway to Kopački Rit, one of Europe's largest wetland areas, where a wide variety of bird species and wildlife reside.
Croatia Airlines twice-weekly flights from London Gatwick to Split and once weekly flights from London Heathrow embark on 21 and 5 April respectively, creating a buzz ahead of new twice-weekly easyJet route from Liverpool to Split set to launch on 9 June. Only a sail or short drive away to cascading waterfalls of the Krka National Park and nocturnal sensations of world-class musicians at one of 4 medieval fortresses, St. Michael, in the city of Šibenik, which is famed for two UNESCO World Heritage sites and Jadrolinija daily ferry connections to 5 uncharted islands from Žirje to Zlarin.
New Croatian islands discoveries are also available with both easyJet and Ryanair. The latter benefits from operations on London Stanstead, Birmingham, Bournemouth and Newcastle airports to Zadar as early as 5 May, while London Gatwick is served by easyJet operations from June. Buzzing hub for island hopping to Krapanj, the smallest inhabited island in the Adriatic or Dugi Otok, the longest island of the Zadar archipelago.
Croatia, the jewel of the Adriatic, dazzles with over 1,000 idyllic islands, pristine coastlines, emerald-green forests, and charming medieval towns. From the crystal-clear beaches of the Dalmatian coast and the vibrant cities such as Zagreb and Split to the scenic hiking trails in majestic national parks like Plitvice Lakes and Krka, Croatia is truly a traveller's paradise.
