The new White Lotus season is - finally - nearly upon us: just a week to go. As anticipated, the new season is sparking renewed interest in travel to Bangkok, Koh Samui and Phuket and leading online travel agent Opodo has looked at both bookings and searches made between September 1st 2024 and today to travel to Bangkok, Koh Samui and Phuket during the period 17th February - 23rd February 2025, comparing these to the previous year. 

Opodo's data reveals: 

Searches

• For travel to Koh Samui over these dates are +88%, to Phuket are +66% and to Bangkok are  +61%

• German traveller interest is highest: making up a fifth (20%) of global travel interest with an increase of 50% in searches compared to the same period in the previous year

• Brits are in third place, 9% of the global total of searches, +53% on the previous year

• Other top 5 national interest is from France (up 54% and 10% of the global total), Italy (+103%, 8% of the global total) and Denmark (+87%, 7% of global total)

Bookings

• For travel to Koh Samui are +44%  and to Bangkok are +17% compared to the same dates in the previous year

• French travellers take the lead:  making up 37% of all bookings in this period (a 28% bounce)

• UK travellers make up 4% of the total bookings - an 84% increase year on year
